In short, it's not AS bad as I remembered, but the whole trillogy is flawed. The Good: There really isn't as much Jar-Jar as you remember, and some of the action sequences are very good. The Bad: The problem with the whole trilogy is that they start with Anakin being too young. It's too sudden a transition, you go from I'm a cute little moppet (EP I) to I'm a whiny teenager (EP II), to I'm a whiny teenager who kills everyone for no really good reason (EP III) it never really works. They should have started with him at age 16 or so and spent more time on the whole conversion to evil process. It's too sudden and jarring, and it never seems to make any sense. So instead of an amazing origin story for one of the best villains of all time, it sort of ruins your image of Darth Vader. Vader in the original trilogy is evil, but it's a cold and calculating systematic sort of evil. It's not all whiny and explosive. It's as if there were a prequel move to Silence of the lambs where you see Hannibal Lector getting into fights with his mom about having to take his little sister to the mall in the minivan, and how his life sucks and is soooooo unfair..... and then he starts killing people. Just kind of a let down.
