I just finished reading the new and old contracts, I find them almost the same. I do see the rising cost of medical benefits with more money coming out of our pockets. I have been with boeing for a over a year and have enjoyed the great benefits that are offered. With this said, I remember the out of pocket cost for my families health care from my last employer. The union (employees) want to pay as little to nothing at all. I understand where they are coming from. I have always said I will vote on the information at hand. Reading the union flyers and Boeings e-mails are not the pieces of information. Everyone is free to vote as they feel, but the ONE VOTE THAT SHOULD BE A YES IS THE STRIKE VOTE.
Someone wrote that they are mad at the possibility of a new hire coming to work at the same amount that he/she is making. Why? You should be proud of yourself for standing up for yourself and asking for more. Still you should be ready to accept that new person as a equal, you just might be training them. The money being offered to us looks good, granted as someone said it is not the same as the 90's. Yes that is true and you have been at Boeing for quite a long time. You as many of the senior employees have a history with this company and some might or might not agree with what is being said. I on the other hand remember the last time the Union went on Strike. I asked my self why would they do that? I now understand why. Its not about the new or the future employees. Its about asking yourselves what kind of history had we have with Boeing and what have you given up to Boeing that you would like back!
As I have stated I have only been with Boeing for over a year & I can honestly say I have not given anything up to Boeing yet. So to all of the new employees think about what the senior employees are saying, question their opinions and form your own opinion before jumping on the bang wagon. Just remember that standing together might or might not bring the spoils that you are seeking. The key to winning is by standing up for what you believe is right and doing it together & together is how I'm standing when all of the votes are counted and read.
