Thanks for setting the record straight Mike! Having spoken at the event, I appreciate it very much. (By the way, I didn't mention the SPLC either).

Tenth Amendment Center : Feds Issue Threat: No Fly Zone for Texas?

The battle is joined at the state level on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Amendments in particular. Also Article 1 Section 10. The Fed govt response and the state's counter response to all of this will determine what kind of nation we leave to our children. It's the epic battle of our generation. Who has the courage to stand?

The Traditions of Men : Food for thought

I probably shouldn't have made as general of a characterization of what he said as I did. Many libertarians don't seem to see government as having any redemptive qualities. My position is that govt does - when properly within its constitutional and biblical jurisdiction. I believe the Bible supports many libertarian ideas. Self government, personal responsibility, liberty, free from coercion from man, etc. These need to be practiced within a framework of a civil society, which cannot exist if man is simply left to be completely free to do as he pleases. Natural Law will then ultimately be replaced by some interpretation of man's law. It's a difficult question, which is why we will not have such a society until heaven. Until then, we try to do our best here on earth, and our republican form of govt. is as good as there is. Blessings! Douig

The Traditions of Men : These are the "leaders" in the church today

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?" 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 And with all the options out there, could he not find good strong Christians to help him? Look closely at where Rick Warren is heading. He is a leader in an unbiblical ecumenical movement. This is part and parcel to his view of the church, and it is becoming more heretical each year.

The Traditions of Men : The December edition of "The Smithy."

Traditions in and of themselves are not bad. As always, it is the heart that matters most. However Jesus didn't attend a pagan celebration in an attempt to make it "holy." It was a Jewish celebration. And when the Jewish people brought pagan traditions into their lives and homes, judgment shortly followed. Isaiah 29:13 "Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men..."

Sorry Michael. Just a bit of sarcasm there. I try to avoid it but it crept in. Getting church leaders to agree on anything today is difficult. Unity is non-existent and the church leaders are holding onto the traditions of men in many ways moreso than their flocks.

Not yet anyhow. The choice will be forced upon us sooner or later - likely sooner. Sadly, people don't rise until forced to do so. God will see to it that we stand. Whether we choose to fight or run will be determined after He gets us off of our behinds.

The Traditions of Men : This is what is known as a trial balloon.

I absolutely believe it is your right to get a flu shot. I also absolutely believe it cannot be legally mandated by our government, yet that is the direction they are heading. So far, the H1N1 pandemic has been anything but problematic compared to the normal flu. I am watching what is going in the Ukraine closely. That could be a real problem, however there are real questions as to if it is even affected by the H1N1 vaccine. Personally, I have taken precautions, none of which guarantee our survival of a 1918 type pandemic. Neither does a shot. In fact a vaccine may give people a false sense of security. Our best technology cannot control the smallest organisms and we'd better accept that and be praying for our safety.

The Traditions of Men : Obama's fall = America's rebirth?

Jim, Thank you for sharing your heart. In the beginning, the public school system taught from a Biblically centered world view. During that period (60's and 70's) the removal of God from the school system was completed for all intents and purposes. However, it was well before the 60's and 70's that the message of morality based on Christ and the Bible was being systematically removed from textbooks and thus the minds of our children. What is this but the systematic dismantling of the 1st amendment? I am a voracious advocate of home schooling (or I prefer the term home discipleship). While I understand that it is very difficult today for some to do because of economics, I would encourage any and everyone who has children in the public school system to consider the "sacrifice." I believe they will find that it is no sacrifice at all to have restored and intimate relationship with your children which is the inevitable result. Oh yes, as you point out - it is straight from Scripture.

The Traditions of Men : Glen Beck Common Sense rant.

Good comments on Beck. Yes, his being a Mormon is problematic. He still can be used to wake people up, but that means he is even more likely to avoid bringing the church into his solutions. I don't necessarily believe he is a plant either. Evidence needed to support that claim and thus far there is none that I see. Inconsistent statements do not make someone a plant. They do indicate a conflicted man, and that is where I believe he is. The solution isn't up to Beck, Hannity, or Limbaugh. Its up to the church. We can use the seeds of awareness planted by them, but they need to hear a positive message and vision coming from the church or they will seek their direction from elsewhere.

The Traditions of Men : Preparing for the fall

I believe if we have a bank holiday, a dollar devaluation will accompany it. The key would be - what do they devalue it against? I suspect if this were to happen, then the IMF's Special Drawing Rights would be the basis for a new world reserve currency unit. Thus the dollar would be a part of it, albeit a small part relative to what it commands now in the world global currency markets. What would this mean to $50K in the bank? If the dollar was devalued by 30% against the SDR, those currencies would immediately suffer that % loss in purchasing power of the US dollars they hold. Domestically, it would take a little time to feel those effects (probably a few days to a few weeks). But eventually, price inflation would be sharp to play catch up. As for the money in the bank, look for the bankers to limit withdraws to small amounts in order to avoid panic runs on banks. Thus the vast majority of your $50 would suffer the full devaluation. No way would I hold $50 in cash in a bank account. PM's, short term Canadian bonds would be my preference. But that is me. You have to decide how much of a threat you believe this is.
