For the impatient ones: In Germany (possibly other countries as well) Apple is still distributing and signing 9B206 for iPhone 4. Grab it while you can.

Create a backup of your iPhone's contents (using iTunes) just before jailbreaking. Jailbreak your phone with pwnagetool. This will wipe your phone. After that, connect to iTunes. iTunes will recoginze your wiped phone and ask whether you want to set it up as a new phone or restore from a backup. Choose restore and select your latest backup file.

One question regarding saved shsh blobs: TU reports that cydia has my shsh for 4.1 on file, although I never saved it for 4.1 (I'm still on 4.0.1). Does this mean I'm fine for 4.1, or should I save again once I've updated to 4.1, just to be sure? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I thought shshs are generated from a combination of your device's ecid and the installed FW, and therefore, you can only save the shsh for the FW version that is currently installed on the device. Searched the web, but couldn't find the answer. Thanks :)

Yes, you can always restore to a regular FW, which will eliminate all evidence of a JB. Unpatchable just means that Apple will never be able to stop you from jailbraking your device over and over again.

Have you used earbuds with your iPhone recently? Sometimes a contact inside the jack gets jammed so that the iPhone thinks it's still in earbuds mode and keeps the main speakers mute. Try plugging and unplugging your earbuds until the sound comes back (play back a song while doing it so that you notice).

From what I've read here, Cydia and Icy interfere with each other. Create a new custom FW and check either Cydia OR Icy, not both.

My theory is that the dev team doesn't give a toss whether you own a Mac or PC or an Atari 400, unless of course they hold apple stock ;)

Wouldn't it be much less fuzz to get a cheap, used, carrier independent (non i-)phone that works with your orange card? Would be less cool, but I would temporarily trade coolness for job interview calls, at least to bridge the time until someone comes up with a better solution.

Things like this use to happen when OS updates come out. Just wait a while, the glasklart author is probably aware of the problem and working on a fix as we speak.

Did you install anything particular from cydia or icy before your phone went on the fritz? I'm just asking because it seems like you're the only one with that problem...

Worked for me without any hiccups (iPhone 3G, Mac OS 10.5.8, iTunes 9). Carrier logo is of course missing. You guys rock! I love you!

Just install fuzzy downgrader from cydia and run it. It will tell you which version your bootloader is. 5.8 is good, 5.9 is bad.
