We've learned over the years that the west side most likely won't help us and like others, the economy hasn't helped. Being so isolated and already struggling, it has hit us hardest. So forgive us if we don't ask for help. Many are glad to help those poor defenseless animals and it is a shame this happened. Good for those who give, but what is more important?
Proud in Eastern Oregon!
I, too, live in Burns, but was unaware of the number of dogs still at that facility. I hope those passing judgment on that man, truly understands his situation. I do not condone what has happened, but isn't it a funny thing how the east side of Oregon is forgotten until something bad happens. Yet, "that man should've asked for help." I hope people will come and visit sometime and stay awhile to really get the feel of what it's like here. Oh... by the way, we have lost all of our industry and the state of Oregon wants to shut down what we have left (the Oregon Youth Authority state prison) in June. The unemployment rate continues to increase (I think it's at 19.2% for Harney County) Not to mention we are isolated from any major city (2 hrs one way).
