DEBATEitOUT.com : Are alcohol, marijuana, and nicotine gateway drugs?

I disagree. I started doing harder drugs long before I ever actually picked up a joint. I think the claim that marijuana is a gateway drug is a false assumption.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should the Feds enforce the death penalty in all states?

I agree with PapaDawg. The Constitution does not list the death penalty as a function of the federal government. Those types of issues are better left to the states.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Is Facebook a monopoly?

I agree. I don't think it is a monopoly because there are other social networking sites available to the public. Facebook just happens to be more successful in that market then the others.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should other countries be allowed to imprison U.S. citizens?

I agree. If you go to someone else's country, you should follow their rules. And if you don't know their rules, find out what they are before you set foot in their country. People need to get rid of this sense of entitlement that they seem to have. The fact that you are an American citizen gives you rights in THIS country. Not in another country. Citizenship is designed to give you rights and privileges while you reside in the of which you are a citizen. It is not designed as some diplomatic immunity crap where you can go to someone else's country and automatically become an asshole over there. You break the law. You face the consequences. Grow up!

DEBATEitOUT.com : Will legalizing marijuana reduce crime?

I guess I am the exception to that point. Back in my younger, self-destructive days, when I did drugs, I actually did not do any marijuana into yeeeeears after I was already doing the harder stuff. I'm not sure if legalizing only marijuana would reduce crime. It might a little. But I still think it should be legalized. There are other reasons for legalizing marijuana. Legalize it and tax it!

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should all countries be allowed to develop nuclear weapons?

I agree with PapaDawg. The United States shouldn't be the world's police force. Personally, I don't think ANY country should be developing any nuclear weapons, including the United States. Especially considering that the U.S. is the ONLY country to have ever used one against another country. However, there are other countries out there that have some crazy people running them and they would be stupid enough to use them if they had them so they shouldn't be developing them either. But as far as saying, they should not be ALLOWED to....c'mon, seriously, who is going to stop them? The United Nations? Hardly. The United Nations would be lucky if they could stop a apple from falling from a tree. What's my point? They are useless. Uuuuuuuseless.

Nope. Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution clearly states: "THE CONGRESS shall have power......To declare war....." Doesn't mention the President in this Article anywhere. No further explanation needed.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Will the United States fall like Rome?

To a certain extent, I think yes. Historically, any large empire that continued a large-scale military buildup of its forces throughout its history, have become fallen empires. As much as we would like to think that our leaders and policy makers would learn from past mistakes, they simply don't.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Should the President be able to regulate the Internet?

I have to agree with PapaDawg on this one. The Constitution specifically states free speech shall not be abridged. However, there are some out there that might point out that the First Amendment says that "Congress" can not make laws that prohibit free speech and that it does not meantion a President making an Executive Order that can prohibit free speech.

DEBATEitOUT.com : Is the United Nations a success?

I don't think it has been very successful. Look at how many international wars and conflicts have been fought since its inception. I thought the whole point of the U.N. was to keep the world's nations from going to war against each other. If anything, it seems to me that they foster and promote international conflict. Just my opinion though.

I would agree almost completely with PapaDawg. Iran is a sovereign nation and they deserve to develop nuclear power for energy purposes. The problem I have is that I honestly do not trust them that they want it for that purpose. They have said repeatedly that they want to destroy the state of Israel and it seems to me that once they develop nuclear technology that they would use it for that purpose. Keep in mind this is my opinion. I THINK they would use it as a weapon. I think that because I do not trust them. I could very well be wrong. However, if anyone needs to stop them from developing this technology in order to keep them from using it as a weapon, it should be Israel and Israel alone. It is not our business (the United States). It is not the business of the "world community." It should be left alone to the nation that feels threatened by them. Just my opinion.
