Good review. Haven't read the books, and will not (not based on your review, though I guess in the long run it'll contribute to that decision).

Are you going to nursing school? I had to go to the ER to get my surface piercing removed (note: LAME!) and I thought of you, how nice/fun it would be to have Nurse Fayola taking my blood pressure and bringing me a cup to pee in (okay, i didn't have to pee in a cup, but it's part of the job description!)

Fiction: The Things They Carred by Tim O'Brien, Plainsong by Kent Haruf, The Body Artist by Don DeLilo, and you should really read the Circle trilogy by Ted Dekker (Black, Red, White). It's Christian but only corny in a few places and actually a very fun read.

Non-fiction: Uh, how about everything by Dan Allender, which is my goal? You could also try The Wounded Healer by Henri Nouwen (a theologian from whom d. allender gets a lot of his ideas).
