I don't have ATT anymore, I broke my contract so I won't be able to activate the phone to see if it works : /

Carrier was set to T-Mobile. I read somewhere else that it took someone a few restores and set up as new iPhone (2 or 3 times) so I'm going to try that to see if it helps. I restored from backup a few times before trying to set-up as new iPhone but it was FW3.0 backup, not 2. Push notifications are off.

Maybe the battery just went bad? Thanks for suggestions, hopefully something will work out.

I bought the phone a week ago and jail broke / unlocked on the very same day. I used At&T until Saturday, I switched to T-Mobile and battery started depleting.

So, I'm not sure why it wasn't depleting with the ATT sim card but when I put in TMobile SIM card it depletes

But yea, it depletes right after restore and jailbreak. I haven't tested to see if it does it before the jailbreak (right after restore).

I'm having the same problem with battery, it was at 100% last night and I woke up an hour ago and the phone had died... The brightness was all the way down, no wifi, edge, gps, push notifications off... everything was turned off.

This is after having restored the phone and set up as new in iTunes. Any suggestions?

OK thanks much, I will restore the phone tonight. I went ahead and copied all the info for Address book, Calendar, Call History, and SMS. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks much!

Does anyone know how to save SMS, Contacts, Calendars, and BeeJive settings from an iPhone backup in Windows XP? I want to try the Set up as a new iPhone but don't want to lose all my information.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, the battery drain is a huge headache but so is losing all the data...

Stuck b/w a rock and a hard place.

I tried the steps listed above about setting up as a new iPhone and it seemed to fix the battery issue but I'm not 100% sure on that because I didn't want to lose all my contacts, SMS, and calendar settings so I had to restore and update from backup... I guess if you are getting a new phone then you won't have this problem...

I did it on Windows XP. The entire process is very easy and does not take a lot of time, just stick to the instructions and you should be good.

If you want to buy a new iPhone 3GS to use with T-Mobile (this is what I did) you will need to jailbreak using redsn0w and then unlock with ultrasn0w.

Redsn0w will give you the jailbreak which will put Cydia as one of your apps. From cydia you can add the iphone-dev repo to the sources list and then install ultrasn0w.

I have been using the 3GS on T-Mobile and everything works perfectly but I haven't been able to fix the battery drain problem yet... That's only thing left and I'll be set.
