During the end and just after the Jimmy Carter term interest rates were in the double digits. My 1st mortgage was over 13%. I truly hope that's not where we are heading again, but I think we just received our first official warning. The only bright side is that following J Carter we elected a government that was strong on national security and conservitive on spending and taxes. Have you noticed how Bambam creates 1 fiasco (see auto bailout) and before the public can get a grasp on all the bad that will be caused he moves on, RAPIDLY, to the next fiasco(healthcare). The union execs seem to be the only ones fairing well with the auto bailout. How about all the closing dealerships and related job loss that will create. What segment of the healthcare industry will take the hit on this one? Is it 2010 yet?

Here is another little fact that is not being shared by the media or govt. As the migrant camps are being populated many of the new arrivals are showing up at the free clinics for health care with flu like symptoms. They are showing up with no shoes and sometimes no shirts so these workers are probably not carrying green cards. Is this going to be another "Like you, I'm just finding out by watching the news" obama moments?

There is another way we can be heard. J Garofalo lumped all the "fed up with out of touch government" protesters together and called us racist teabagging rednecks. First, she doesn't know me and second I'm not a racist nor a gay teabagger. I am however highly insulted and I firmly believe in a strong reaction. She has been hired as an actor on one of my favorite tv shows, 24, and I no longer watch the show. This was not as hard for me as I thought it might be. All I have to do is REMEMBER her idiotic statement and I'm just fine with changing my viewing habits. There are over 500,000 registered users at this site and if we want to get a clear message out that crazy Hollywood types mouthing off will no longer be tolerated I challenge everyone who is a current viewer of the show 24 to STOP watching. 1- All candidates for federal office will be audited and cleared by the IRS(think of the money that will raise) 2- All candidates on the ballot(federal, state, local) will submit to and pass a drug test. If the test is failed the candidate is removed from the ballot. 3- Random drug test for all elected and appointed officials. If test is failed (1st time)the official is suspended from office without pay for a minimum of 30 days (2nd time) official is permanently removed from office and forfeits all pension benefits. All officials must be tested minimum of once every three years. 4- Pay raises will be placed on each election cycle ballot for the upcoming fiscal years until the next ballot with the following increment choices: 1) 0% 2)3% 3)5% 4)7% 5- If the federal budget is running a deficit any pay raise voted for will be eliminated. Three years of continuous budget deficits and a 7% pay reduction for each year the budget remains in the minus. 6- Remove the current insurance program that taxpayers are paying for and place all subscribers on the Medicare Insurance program that we are also paying for. (Provides incentive to fix Medicare/Medicaid)

Not convinced the calls are doing anything other than putting Bambam back in candidate mode. One party has almost complete control and seems that they are not concerned with constituent happiness. Challenge for today: Try to purchase something that is NOT made in China. I have found that it is very hard to do. I have been amazed over the past year since I began looking at the manufacturing label at just what is made in China. For example, Christmas decorations(talk about a slap in the face), American name brand shoes, hardware, etc. We continue to legislate our businesses out of business with high taxes, high energy cost, labor union practices and enviromental guidelines that China is not hampered with. End result is that we send our $$ to China and they purchase our debt with our $$.
