__ So where do we start? Myself, I write and call my elected officials, educate my children in what is fair, right from wrong. Never trust what the talking heads say research the subject or subjects. Judge them by what they do not what they say. Balance my decision to on how it will affect the freedoms and liberties of future generations of American's. Never compromise my values for the crumbs and scraps that the government says they will allow me to have because of my labor or silence today.
Sorry had to cut my reply down.
First let me state that I consider myself a hard core constitutional conservative; there are many ideas that have been brought up on this site that have worth of mention. I believe that there will be some that come to this site just to inject themselves into our discussion to arouse our passions. I understand that some who call themselves conservatives do not hold the view points that I do. With that said let me point out that the erosion of our rights, freedoms and liberties started long ago and it will take many years and small victories to restore to the people (us) the liberties and freedoms that our founding fathers were willing to die for.
We as conservatives must realize that when we compromise our values and principals to appease any special interest group that we have willingly let the government (special interest group) take something that is rightfully ours. I have seen many ideas, thoughts and arguments on this site; to name a few Federal Reserve Bank, taxes, IRS, Acorn, religion and gun control to name a few.
I agree! In a nut shell it is Freedom of Religion not Freedom From Religion!
I believe you error sir! He has been successful in placing our children and grandchildren in bondage so he can expand government and socialist programs. Do you really believe that big spending government is better than limited government. Heck, they ran a whore house backrupt check your history. I agree with trishh he is not my president as he has refused to take the necessary actions to settle the argument over his citizenship. What does he have to hide? As for living in another country maybe you should give it a try, my suggestion is perhaps France they have the type of government you desire already.
To lincoln's doc's dog;being new to this conversation I need to ask where do you see religion refered to in 2nd principle? It speaks of belief, belief comes from faith. I do believe in God and that is my right, just as it is your right not to believe. It is true that there are many people who lay a claim to religion, they are not to be confused with those who have a knowledge and belief of God based on their life experiences.
As to our founding fathers not be religious it should be understood that for them to support or verbally endorse any religion, would have destoried what they had sacrificed so much to establish. They (founding fathers) understood what they were doing when they set pen to paper, and through their foresight granted unto us a nation, never before seen in the history of man kind. To reflect on what these men and women endured to found our nation makes me grateful to be called American! At the same time you should understand that while I will let you say what you will, I for one will never compromise my belief's or my rights to or for anyone.
I have visited a few convesations on this site as a new member and this is what I have discovered. We the people for whom Glenn and his staff set this site up for seem to be in arguments with people who do not share our views. On the right to keep and bear arms I base my opinion on history. Our fore-fathers risk all they had up to and including their lifes to found this nation and grant to "We" the people certain rights. As a veteran and sportsman I have taught my children; sons, daughters and grandchildren how to use fire arms, not only for target shooting but also hunting. While I don't have any idea why someone would want a full automatic weapon, according to our Bill of Rights they are allowed to have one.
A flat 30% tax would not work, it would drive to many family's into making decisions concerning their choices between what they would eat, medical care they could afford if any and what type of dwelling they could afford to live in. The government already mismanages billions of dollars on social programs, educational programs, and various other unnecessary ear marks of our elected leaders. Our government has just passed on a debt to our children and grandchildren that they had no voice in. It is time for the government to stop it's reckless spending and set the correct examples of balancing the check book. Government is only responsible for a few types of spending, First is defense of the nation, second is interstate commerce. There should be no Federal Reserve Bank, only Congress should have the power to set interest rates and print money. Recent history has proven that the only people the Federal Reserve Bank is protecting is bad banks.
