you have to plug it into your computer, and then run redsnow, and click on "boot tethered" option

I have a Windows computer, iPhone 3GS FW 4.3.3, BB 6.15, and new bootrom

Can someone please tell me step by step instructions as to how to go about upgrading my 3GS, as I really want iOS5. Also, can you tell me of any possible side effects of doing it now, vs. doing it after a bit?
