Good Food : Recipe: Lard Rendering How To

Weird timing. I just made a rhubarb pie last night with lard. I used Farmer John brand; it wasn't piggy at all. Unfortunately it did have BHT and Citric Acid added. I'm not very familiar with lard, so I can't say how much that affected the final product.

I make a similar cornbread stuffing with sage sausage. And strangely enough bok choi makes a good substitute for celery (well, in mine at least).

Good Food : Coffee Shops Too Sexy?

I don't really understand the hullabaloo. It's basically just a strip club. I don't think the idea of a topless coffee shop is so out there and new that their current laws wouldn't apply to it. Obviously if they didn't have the correct permits for their waitresses to be topless and allowed illegal gambling on the premises the city already had cause to amend the situation. Now they're forcing them to have untinted windows? I feel like the uptight parents would have MORE to complain about. Also, in rural WA, I passed a bikini barista drive-thru hut... Its not really a new idea.

Thanks for the advice. I found out that he only pardoned those without violent criminal records who didn't register for the draft or traveled abroad to avoid it. Also about 15% of the pardoned who had traveled abroad returned to the US. I read that Gerald Ford had created a clemency program for draft dodgers, but it only accepted 15,000-21,800 of its 350,000 candidates.

Big Government : Can Conservatism Appeal to Young People?

How do you suggest changing the current status quo? Hospitals are closing already without free healthcare. Charities already donate to hospitals to keep them running. The costs of the emergency patients who can't pay get passed onto those who are insured. It's a real conundrum.

So true. He should really leave the Republican party for the Libertarian. He could start a new political movement if he wanted. Hopefully shake up our two party system a bit.

You've hit the mark. I find libertarianism really intriguing. You're right, it is very radical. The problem is there is little political power in this country for those with a libertarian ideology. Both Democrats and Republicans want to tell us how to live their lives. Libertarianism wants to give us the freedom of choice.
