Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/28/09: President Obama Wants Us To Spend 3% of Our GDP On Science

People please do not make an assumption that I want it to go completely one way or the other, this is one of the areas that does have a middle ground. The private sector can function to innovate while at the same time having the government aid sections of the science sector. I am a young 19 year old who knows very well that I am naive and no little about the world. And I know that the majority of business owners are good people, my dad owns his own businesses and he truly cares about these issues. But you would be naive to think that there is not a section of the private sector that doesn't care . I believe that greed is at the root of all these evils.

I believe that putting too much faith in the private sector is as dangerous as working through the government. Many of the solutions to the environmental problems do not make sense to a profit driven mind. And I do not trust that there will be enough businesses owners out there who care enough about the environment to invest in technologies that will not necessarily make them money. And do not forget that free market capitalism has its own problems. It creates its own destruction by creating monopolies that prevent a true free market. And capitalism is in part responsible for the fact that the gap between rich and poor is greater now than ever before. The private sector may end up being a muzzle for innovation, in a different way than the government, but still a muzzle.

here here, what most people don't understand is that much of this funding won't even enter the realm of what is considered wasteful, much of it will go into programs such as environmental conservation, aggriculture and other fields that will have a noticeable impact on the future.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/17/09: WWJD?

I know this is simply a talking point and I believe that civil unions are a step in the right direction, but I am curious to your response. Marriage was not historically a sacred act, it was about chattel and legal agreements. It was changed into this sacred act between a a man and a women. Marriage is common across regions and religions, including ones that do not believe in a central god. So why now is this newer christian definition of marriage the one that represents the "institution" of marriage over all these others. To cause the christian definition of marriage to represent all of them is the government intervening in religion.

This is not about you doing the thinking for me, I am a college student and live in a very pro-obama environment. This is about me trying to get both sides of the story. Its one thing to just to listen to your party and shut out the other view points, going on to make obligatory un-explained comments like the one that you made for me. And while I included a comment on how this board seems primarily about dooms day talk, which is what I believe. I am trying to engage the people on this board to get the whole picture. I know I was not being completely fair with my first post,I would appreciate a more detailed response.

As I have looked through these boards I have found many people talking about how we are losing our liberties because of Obama. Despite all this doomsday talk about a president still less than half a year old, no one has really elaborated. Can some one please tell me what liberties we are losing and which of Obamas policies are taking them away?

There are doubts about climate change still but that does not mean there is no benefit to clean energy solutions. More importantly there are still ecological problems even while ignoring climate change. There is pollution, invasive species, and endangered species in addition to the climate change. In addition the next energy source is here. We can implement solar and wind technologies, it just not happening, and that is what I am hopping for. We need to address the problems cross the board, clean technology is just the next step.

I believe that the tax cuts that Bush imposed on the country and the poorly fought and expensive war also contributed to the worsening economy. We need to clean up both parties. More importantly we need to focus on cleaning up wall street.

Possibly and nuclear is an option, but I believe there is a solution to this that doesn't use nuclear. I do not have the article with me but I believe it involved integrating geothermal into the equation.

The witch hunts that McCarthy went on had a deep homophobic undertone. if you do a little research you will be able to find the articles. This fact alone casts doubt on the integrity of McCarthy's mission. We should learn from his mistakes before we go on a crusade against who ever these individuals are.

Renewable energy technology exists, my number one wish is to move the electric grid completely onto wind and solar energy, creating jobs in the process. I also wish to see the advancement of these technologies invested into. America needs to be on the forefront of science again.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : The 9/12

I have read through multiple boards on this website and have a few concerns. Many people talk about "taking back this country" but from who specifically? Obama or our government in general. I initially believed it was from Obama but this wouldn't make sense as Oboma has been in office less 6 months. In addition many people have called Obama a socialist which seems factually wrong. Obama came into office with a long list of ideas and policies but he abandoned many of these temporarily to help save capitalist structures. Immediately trying to save capitalism even if he is instituting some socialist structures isnt exactly something someone who isn't a capitalist would do.My last inquiry for now is on how Obama is apparently taking away our rights. What rights? and what of the rights that Bush took away under the patriot act? And while I support obama now please do not call me a puppet and write me off, I am trying to stimulate discussion with some intelligent posts. Please respond in kind and do not assassinate my character. EDIT THIS MAY BE A RE POST.
