GazetteOnline.com : Iowans skeptical of Palin, new poll shows

This is great misdirection by the REPublican party. Palin is window dressing, when the time comes, the DEMs will get bounced. Why you ask? The attention span of the public is shorter then their patience. If the 401k's and home values are'nt booming by 2012 people will simply vote for change......again.

Agree with the SNL logic. I have decided to vote for whoever SNL can impersonate the best. At least I can laugh for 4 years as another nitwit takes the whitehouse. SOmeday I may actually be able to vote FOR someone, opposed to picking the lesser of two evils.

GazetteOnline.com : Kirsten Running wins House 33 seat

Why should taxpayers foot the bill for the choices of others? Is it possible that poverty is an outcome of poor choices such as addiction, criminal activities and outright laziness? Finicial aid for students should be paid for by the student who will reap the beniefits of his education. Single mothers should get child support from the childs father (if she is able figure out who he is) not get support from others who had nothing to do with her choice to produce children without the means to suppoort them. Thank goodness there is a party of NO to balance out the party of handouts.

GazetteOnline.com : Iowa lawmakers will return in January to a billion dollar budget gap

State budgets are cyclical like the rest of our economy. Law makers should be smart enough to know that and therefore in times of plenty prepare for times of need. With common sense apparently out of vogue in our society we can't expect those elected to act any differently. I propose a law that requires the governor and top state officials to take pay cuts before anyone or any programs are cut back. Put incentive in the equation and changes will occur. The typical modus operandi is this; the people who mismanage, give us a choice. Either accept tax increases or accept cuts to police, teachers, prison gaurds and free meals for poor kids. Why don't we the people demand that they be the first to make sacrifices in their incomes. They have no problem asking us to sacrifice more of ours when they screw up.
