Industrial Wind Turbine Companies are getting paid handsomely to erect Industrial Wind Turbines with Federal Government Stimulus money. In other words, taxpayers - you and I - are subsidizing them, and that is part of the reason why they make no economic sense. It is also the reason why there many unproven, start up companies trying to get a healthy piece of the Stimulus pie. For these Companies, It's all about dollars, and lots of them!

Wow, I sure wish people who choose to comment did their research first. I loved the idea of industrial wind turbines until several months ago, when I started my research. And now, after doing my due diligence, I can't believe these things are being pushed so much by the Government. Here's my 2 cents to what's been commented on so far: BIKERIDER - hopefully you're not saying that these 12 industrial wind turbines proposed by NorthWind will result in $12 million annually to Herkimer County; If so that is way, way off base. Also, I am all for change, but not just for the sake of change. It has to be the right change, and there are far better alternatives than industrial wind turbines and many alternatives are doable today. Industrial Wind Turbines have been proven to be inefficient, and ineffective, and they do nothing to help with our local energy bills. This is not a NIMBY issue. HARRYHOUGHTON - Industrial Wind Turbines do not replace foreign oil. As a matter of fact, if you do the research, you will see that foreign oil plays an extremely, extremely small part in the production of electricity. Most of your comment refers to Residential Windmills, which are and can be a very good thing. While I can't speak for the people that may be affected by this latest proposal in Litchfield, I can tell you that most people who have taken the time to educate themselves about Industrial Wind Turbines have no problem with Residential Windmills, and would agree with some of your comment. Do your research and learn about the differences between Industrial Wind Turbines and Residential Windmills. IRONWORKER440 - If I was an Ironworker as you are, I would also be pro-Industrial Wind Turbine, since it would mean that I can compete for a job to build these monsters. However, if you do the research, and break away the fact from the fiction, NorthWind Power Company(if they are like all of the other Industrial Wind Turbine companies out there, will overinflate the # of jobs it will create, and will drastically overinflate the # of jobs created to maintain the Turbines after they are erected. And from what I've read at the Litchfield opponents' website, they are all for renewable energy. The difference is that Industrial Wind Turbines, while they do produce a small amount of energy, are far from efficient, and do nothing to contribute to the electricity problems we have downstate. So, Ironworker440, harryhoughton, bikerider, and everyone else, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING CARELESS OR UNFOUNDED COMMENTS.
