Why does every franchise reboot have to start back at Square 1? We just had the last Tobey Maguire one like in the last 4 years! Superman too! WE KNOW THE BACKSTORY - Advance the storyline already! (Jeez, didn't the Spidey 3 actually already tackle the Gwen Stacy storyline?)

So what - Instead of blazing forward with new stories in this young-crew era, we're going to just do rehashes of the old Trek flicks? I felt the beauty of the reboot gave them a lot of flexibility. Not complaining (much), and I loved Wrath of Khan, but why waste this cast's youth, freshness & time together with retreads? The classic Trek series was all about fighting Klingons & Romulans - plenty of rich pastures there...

Lifelong Who fan - Cut my teeth on Tom Baker, Peter Davison & Colin Baker growing up, while visiting the Pertwee, Troughton & Hartnell Docs as they became available via PBS here in the States in the 80s & video release in the 90s. No vested interest on which option they decide - I'll watch it either way. Not a huge fan of the current Doc (Matt Smith) - He lacks the gravitas a +1,000 y/o character would embody; his predecessor (David Tennant) did a much better job portraying the haunted sole-survivor (or so he thought) of his Time Lord race.

But then again, Peter Cushing played the Doctor in the two 60s 'Who' flicks in parallel w/ the BBC series w/ no conflict.

Someone in another forum hit on a great idea: Benedict Cumberbatch as a resurrected 4th Doctor (Tom Baker), and a revisitation of a classic Who story like 'Genesis of the Daleks'. Now I'd buy that for a dollar!
