Once in a great while the ACLU does something I agree with. When they took the 4th Amendment, I was silent because I didn't deal drugs. When they took the 6th Amendment, I was silent because I am innocent. When they took the 2nd Amendment, I was silent because I don't own a gun. Now they have taken the 1st Amendment and I can say nothing about it.

This could be a turning point in his life. Cutting him slack could easily give him the wrong message and send him down the wrong path in life. His parents, "mentors", and courts need to give him a clear message about what is acceptable behavior and not coddle him and make excuses for his alcoholism.
