In my town, the police certification course can be taken by anyone with the interest as long as they have 60 college credits, pass backround checks and psche evals, there are physical reqs too.. It covers the scope of police work from A to Z. For $2,800. It is required by all local depts, but not all who take it become cops. Some become prison guards or what have you.
