This article actually makes sense. I've thought all along that the U.S. intervention and meddling in the election in the Ukraine was wrong. Shades of what it did in Honduras which has helped to precipitate the migration of thousands of people north to escape the resulting violence. American imperialism needs to stop. Rand Paul is right,

Treatment for heroin addiction has improved with the introduction of suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone), however, it is not readily available in sufficient quantities to meet the need and not enough doctors are trained to administer it.

This video makes me wonder if the way we treat homeless people might be a reason there is so much drug addiction among that population of people. If your life is miserable, would it be any surprise that you would turn to using a substance that makes you feel better at least for a short while?

I agree with you, Human Right. I share your revulsion and dismay over what this country is doing waging war on people who have never been a threat to the United States. I revolts me that my tax dollars are used to wage these illegal wars.

I agree. There were three towers that fell on 9-11. Huge questions remain.

That said, WRP is in fine form in this article and the gist of his message still rings true - you reap what you sow and when you are in a hole, stop digging.

Just as with climate change, the insanity will only stop when we collectively insist that it be so.

Yes, for example, poor people often do have difficulty getting an ID. Most of us drive and can use a drivers license but owning a car and obtaining a drivers license costs money.

Women in positions of power are every bit as capable of violence as men. Examples are Margaret Thatcher, Golda Meier, Hillary Clinton, Madeleine Albright, and Condoleezza Rice.

I agree with Max Blumenthal's comment this morning on DemocracyNow that Kerry's "slip" was orchestrated to take the heat of the United States for supporting this slaughter.

Gaza is a concentration camp and one of the most densely populated places on earth. There is no where for Palestinians to go, no where to hide where they can be safe. All the phone calls, all the "knocks on the roof", all the leaflets will not change that.

I believe Nick Hanauer has written his article as a warning to his fellow 1%ers that they need to change their ways or risk the consequences.

What he fails to say is what he wants his peers to do to remedy the situation. Of course, we can think of a few things they can do easily like begin to pay their fair share of taxes for the services they all benefit from. That would be a good start.

Paying low wage workers a living wage is not only a smart thing to do for the reasons Hanauer points out, it is also a humane thing to do. Sounds like a win-win to me.

The proposed ordinance may indeed be a step forward in that it officially acknowledges that encampments are a viable interim solution to shelter people and that more such encampments are required to meet the need that already exists. However, the exclusion of such encampments from residential areas is a step backward from the original consent decree by the Court which did allow encampments on private property without that restriction.

That the people of Nickelsville have been allowed to languish for more than two years without the most basic of hygiene facilities is shameful! I don't see that the proposed legislation does anything to solve that problem.
