Isn't church online better than no church online? Last time I checked if Jesus really enters someone's life, doesn't He deposit the Holy Spirit that enables a believer to walk in the ways of God? If that means physical relationships with other believers, don't you think God would quicken someone's heart to do so in addition to being online? Please don't get me wrong Im trying not to overspiritualize, but I think many people are underspiritualizing what God can do online. If you are asking questions about is that "really real" then we are crossing over to the arena of philosophy, and you could chase tails all day long on this one. Anyways that's my banter, for what its worth.

Andy Darnell's Mindmap : #Tribes - Day 20 - Sheepwalking

"Ah, we like sheep!" I'm sorry I just couldn't resist it! Now that I have officially branded myself "dork", I think that being sheepish comes naturally to all of us. I mean think about how most things in our life are subconsciously made to help us move along in sheep/cattle like manner. Grocery stores, drive thru, driver license offices (yikes), church (oops.. i said it!), google (although i live and die by it; PS what happened to real research and credible citations?) Sheep move en masse. It's easier... We like easy... The way of Jesus is not en masse. Not easy. Many times lonely. Sometimes we (feel like) are left alone with our insecurities and they whip us into sheep shape. Ending sheepwalking seems like such a large task. But what if we decided to just try one thing different today? Please God, reveal to me THIS day where I can not sheepwalk. A large musical movement is still constructed of individual notes. Maybe if push back against sheeplike moments one at a time, we will find ourselves building momentum in the right direction.

Shooting the Breeze : How can churches attract “fans” and keep them?

One example of something recent we did that helps us attract "fans" is having our Easter service in a big local park in downtown Orlando. Of course we had a rockin' Easter service, but we also wanted to serve the poor in Orlando, so we had our people collect over 500 bags of groceries to be given out at this event. Many in our local communities may not fully understand Jesus, but they understand helping the poor and consequently we had a major turn out plus four news channels were out to cover it. (Even though we know it's not about numbers/press coverage/etc I think if we serve our communities more we will draw those casual fans) But in all honesty it has to be the message of Christ that turns these casual fans into true fanatics. I think one thing we at Grace do well to keep "fans" is we challenge people to volunteer in some form or fashion with us and our story starts to become "their" story. When people can start saying "we did this" it makes them get even more excited and they bring more casual fans, and the cycle continues. We have many ways to volunteer at our fellowship, that is really our "discipleship" program and it seems to be working really well.

Human3rror : "Snarky" Posts Anyone?

if my snarky blog is a passive-aggressive substitution for confronting a person or group (versus actually sorting it out with that person/group) then i don't do it. I always check my motives before I post a snarky blog, but sometimes you just have to put on the gloves and snark it out.
