One way to approach solving many of the challenges we face with health care may be to start at the community level, with health care institutions, insurance companies, and non-profit community agencies each taking part in educating health consumers about disease, health risk, proper nutrition, etc. This will empower individuals to take better care of themselves and become more informed about health care decisions when faced with illness. All participants (individuals and agencies), will benefit from better health within the community since good individual health decreases stress, encourages social and economic upward mobility, and decreases the incidence of chronic disease. I am ready to initiate a movement for change in how health care is accessed and delivered in my community. I look forward to learning more from the Obama administration about how to usher in a new health care model for our country.
