Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Tea Parties

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV> <DIV>You are right, they are independent and picking up more participants all the time. I was into the 912 project but not the tea parties untilthe 15th. After our tea party there was a 912 get together in the evening with probably 400 to 500 people. The tea party bunch and the 912 bunch plus a couple of other like minded groups are all starting to work together here to find and promote normal, regular people who are willing to run against the usual bunch and try to take back control. I hope other areas also do the same thing. The Fair Tax bunch is getting into it too.</DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV>

RockinUSA, I don't know where you went to a rally, but in Grand Junction Colorado it WAS NOT A REPUBLICAN rally. They got more boos when mentioned than any of the Democrats did. It was estimated we had more than 3000 people who want smaller government, less spending, and less taxes. We are all about the 9 principles and 12 values, not matter what party the candidate is from. I really think many of the rallies were probably the same all over the country, we didn't all have big names making speaches.

The biggest problem with a third party is that it has always split the vote and put the worst people into office. Ross Perot was the best example, Taking back one of the other two may be the best way.

I suggest gatherings in our home areas on the 4th of July. They will not be in session in Washington, they will all be home in their own territory. Save the big one for Sept 12 when they will be in Washington. Our group is planning to meet once a month to work on ideas, look for candidates to challenge the incumbents, and get the word out about the bills that are coming up. We are working to CLEAN THE BENCH in our State Supreme Court of the liberals. Keep the pressure on them with letters and calls and don't let them slip into town to quietly meet with their little groups only to read about it in the paper the next day. Find out when they are coming and BE THERE TO ASK THE HARD QUESTIONS.

Susan, it is not just the bama cult, it also includes a lot of others from all walks of life and both parties. The rest I agree on.

I have been watching here and listening to radio and have not heard anything about insurrection or secession. I don't know what you are watching or listening to, but you might try opening your mind and checking things out yourself. Do your own research, stop blindly drinking the kool ade.

IntenseDebate Notification <DIV> <DIV>The main problem I have with the flat tax is that it leaves the IRS (16th Amendment) as is and we know from past experience thatsome politician would soon be looking at ways to raise the rates for certain people or classes of people and lowering it for others. It would not be long until wewould be right back where we are now. When the tax is figured into the price of the goods and services it would be harder to "overlook" underreporting them. Please read the Fair Tax Book and the follow up book that Answers the Critics. It is really a simple fair way for everyone.</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt arial">

For the most part those under 21 have never lived on their own and don't really have an understanding of how politics is affecting their lives. They (mostly) have not been taught how government even works. How many of them know how many branches of government there are and what they are responsible for?

Unfortunetly some states, including Colorado, have or are trying to give all of their electoral votes to the person who wins the national popular vote no matter how the state voted. This needs to be stopped anywhere it is being done.

If the pressure from enough of us gets to them they will start to pay attention. Keep the phone calls and emails going to them even when you think you are being ignored. They will get the message especially if there are rallies to follow up with thousands of people across the country taking part. Get involved with your local groups and start working on your local officials while keeping the pressure on the feds. Nothing gets done when we sit around saying "it will never happen, or they will never do it"

Suggestion I read elsewhere. All campaign monies go into a single pool no matter where they come from. They are then divided up among the candidates by a formula that would give each a set amount to spend for their campaigns. No special interests would have an advantage and the amount of money would constrain some of the ads that are just propaganda. Shorten the campaign to 6 months or less and demand straight answers.

If all donations were going to a single pool to finance all elections and divided equally to all canidates it would sure take special interests out of the picture.

I see a lot about the flat tax in these postings. One thing it does not do is collect taxes from the underground non-tax paying cultures or from visitors. The Fair Tax will.

This law is very interesting and it should be repealed. You have stated it clearly, it would certainly be harder for them to gerimand the districts to determine outcomes to the elections to give one side or the other the power. It is interesting also to think what would happen if we had one representative for every 30,000 people. That is POWER TO THE PEOPLE!

I have to disagree that the citizens are educated enough to vote wisely. Many didn't even know what party was in control of Congress at the last election. They thought because the President was Republican that the Congress MUST therefore be the same. They did not know who Pelosi, Reed, and many others were or what they did. That is scary. The electoral college does serve a real purpose, without it we would be a pure democracy. The Founding Fathers knew that no country could survive that way very long. As soon as 51% of the people realize they can vote benefits from the public coffers they will do to us what our present government is trying to do now.

I have been writing to them and getting the same response so I sent them all a notice that if they can't be bothered to address the concerns I bring up in my letters I can't be bothered to take the time to support them in the next election. Then two days later I followed up with a letter stating the Principles and Values with the message that I will be looking for people who embrace them when I go to vote next time. I will continue to write to them at least twice a week to try to keep the pressure on. As new things come up in bills I will let them know how I feel about them and that I will be keeping track of their voting records.
