Somebody has to ask the School Board during the Q&A hearing what the difference is between the 10th Day. Enrollment and the last day of school's enrollment figures for North. This is a published number that is accessible to the public from the school system just by asking. If the school is losing 10-15% of its student body in the course of a year then its a School problem and not a district problem. Check what the drop is between freshman and senior classes. Kids can just walk off without taking the time to announce they have dropped out once they are 16. This happened to Salisbury High in the 90's.

You can throw more kids in via redistricting but you will just overload the freshman class and more kids will drop out as a result.

My hat is off to you for the sacrifice you and your family made while in the service to our country. You have a greater understanding of what we are talking about here than most of us. Redistricting is tough on those moved and people in the end will only redistrict themselves anyway. It just doesn't work.

During my kid's education years my two kids were redistricted once and almost again a second time. We potentially would have had two kids in two different high schools. Kids are pretty good at making the change. Ask any Army brat and they will tell you they survived. Problem was my kids were one of very few kids taken from their elementary school and thrown in with a bunch of strangers. It was tough. Our kids had to find their way amongst a bunch of kids who already knew each other. It was also tough on us as parents as we lost all the co-parent support we had built up over 6 years. So we redistricted ourselves by buying a new house in the district we originally were in.

Maybe Dr. Eagle needs to go North Rowan?

This tract of land is beautiful. I've canoed past it many times and often camped on its banks. Now it can be enjoyed by all forever.

Those of us in the countryside have been to Raleigh many times this year and have outnumbered the League of Municipalities and City staff people at hearings. But when you have paid lobbyists working on the inside 24/7/365 the "true power of protest" is lost. You are right. Ethics is at a minimum.

Actually folks in the City's satellite areas asked to be annexed. Forrest Glen is one of those areas. They wanted the services. There are plenty of houses for sale in town if I really wanted to get those services as well. If I went into town and told folks that they had to double their taxes and then require them to install a well at their own expense I'm sure they would protest as well.

If the City makes another attempt at involuntary annexation and this time requires frontage fees, expect the same to hold true for the entire City. All the folks who are not on City water/sewer would then be required to do so at the same price. Misery loves company and we'd love to share it with you.

People will re-district themselves anyway and you will only have to re-district again. That is why real estate is listed with school districts included. Parents looking for the best education for their kids are not whiners. They are being responsible.

Make North Rowan High the best school in the county. Give it all the resources it needs and deserves. Salisbury High did it after losing 14% of its students from the first day to the last day of school for three years running during the 90's. There's allot of good folks in North Rowan. You'll find it much easier and cheaper than building a new school or redistricting again.

I find it amusing that plan #2 found a way to redistrict West's representative on the school board by taking only Summerfield and moving it away from its surrounding neighbors. Guess that's what happens when Salisbury has two representatives on the school board. Salisbury gets what it wants. Salisbury always gets what it wants.

Yes it was a response to the very confusing comment.
