/Film : Sam Raimi's Drag Me To Hell Poster

Wow. This poster kicks ass. Seriously. And as a woman, kind of sick of all this feminist bull shit; if theres anything misogynistic about it, it's probably intentional (because Sam Raimi is fucking awesome). Anything else is way too much into it. Like, come on. This movie looks fucking cool.

/Film : Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo Gets U.S. Release

INSANELY HUGE fan of Miyazaki. Howl's Moving Castle is in my top ten favorite movies and Princess Mononoke is in my top thirty. Really excited for this on many levels but more so because this will be my first time seeing a Miyazaki movie on the big screen. Awesome voice cast-announced awhile ago actually. I was wondering when /Film was going to write up a piece on it. Anyway, so happy about this (I mean seeing Miyazaki and Tina Fey's names in the same boat just brings a fucking smile to my face.)

/Film : Movie Trailer: Sam Mendes' Away We Go

Yeah, I agree about all the typical indie qualities that it seems to hit but in my opinion, I think that's just how the trailer is cut. I definitely got more of drama feel from it...with comedic elements. Someone said Juno meets Punch Drunk Love and I can only hope. Plus, Sam fucking Mendes is at the helm and honestly (besides Allison Janney, since she is always a draw for me) that's all I need to get excited for this film.

/Film : Is Assassination of a High School President Going Direct To DVD!?

Blast...I forgot how badly I wanted to see this movie. Really hope it doesn't get a straight to DVD release. “Assassination is not a copy of Brick, in fact, it was written before Brick. Imagine if John Hughes had made Chinatown set in a High School. So where Brick was a hardcore film noir story set in the world of high school students, Assassination is a high school movie with a noir mystery storyline.” ^This makes me really happy; I thought (despite my interest in it) that this movie was going to be a direct rip off of Brick and now it seems (based on that excerpt from your review) that the two only share noir-like qualities. Having read your review and all the excerpts from other sites, I can officially say I'm a lot more amped for this movie and I really hope it gets some sort of release.

/Film : DO NOT POST TILL FRIDAY - Movie Review: Sunshine Cleaning - The Power of Amy Adams

Ah. When I saw that you reviewed this, Dave, I was really hoping for a good review and somehow I knew it was going to be lackluster. It's really a shame; I believe Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are two of the best actresses of our generation. It would have been cool to see them work together with material worthy of their talent.

/Film : Early Buzz: Watchmen is an Extremely Faithful Adaptation, Possibly to a Flaw?

Yeah, I see what you're saying. When I read it, even though it was printed with a blue bubble, I always pictured Doc Manhattan with a calm and collected voice (like DrChicago stated before) and I just think Billy Crudup's voice is perfect. He was the voice of Ashitaka in Princess Mononoke which is my second favorite in the American voice casts for the Miyazaki movies (second to Christian Bale's Howl) and I'm just happy they used it.

The geek in me and the movie-lover in me sometimes butt heads a little bit; I'm really happy to hear that it's so faithful to the graphic novel and that "Watchmen fans" will love it. But, at the same time, I'm hoping that Snyder isn't just doing a (visually stunning) exact play-by-play of GN without any emotionality or connectivity. The reason why Watchmen is as highly regarded as it is, is because it's a social commentary. He needs to be able to show those raw, emotional qualities that the graphic novel did so well. I'm happy that Snyder was so faithful to the source material (minus the ending, which was rightfully changed) but I'm hoping that it succeeds as a movie as well. That being said, I cannot wait for March 6th.
