The toys in a Kinder Egg don't seem any more dangerous than the toys you can get from a vending machine, or hard candy for that matter. Clearly they need to be kept out of the hands of very young children, which the label clearly indicates.

Unfortunately, there are many among us who will happily take advantage of people exercising this right.

Have they considered installing some zip lines?

I give credit to the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department for taking a chance on this idea. Some cities are actually cutting back on park space to cut costs. Seattle, on the other hand, came up with a plan that could have generated some revenue without greatly impacting the park.

Ah, but for the “crowd of angry residents". There is a certain demographic that you can count on to show up and b!tch about stuff like this. The picture says it all. 95% of the people in attendance would never use something like a zip line, and so they shout the idea down on premise alone.

Lead naysayer, Brian Romas, was quoted in a previous article: " 55 bucks for adults and 35 bucks for kids is going to bring an element of people in for a for profit venture in a public land…(That) makes no sense to me at all."

Seriously? The sorts of people who are willing to blow $55 a pop to ride a piece of rope are *good* for a neighborhood. They’ll have their fun, they’ll eat in your restaurants, they’ll shop in your stores, and then they’ll go home. That seems a lot better than crime and gang activity, which is all West Seattle seems to attract these days.

Just this morning on 520 I saw a car change into a lane behind a cement truck, which was pulling a hill and probably going 15-20 MPH slower than traffic (and said car). Fortunately, the car slammed on the brakes before plowing into the back of the truck.

I wondered why the driver made such a choice. When I passed I got my answer: because the 20-ish year-old driver was focused intently on a smartphone.

Probably, but it's hard not to admire Karma in action.

Too bad the officer was injured in the process, but fortunate that it sounds like he'll make a full recovery.

Drunk driving is a serious problem. Yet what do you find outside of most bars and taverns? A parking lot. I have yet to see a sign in one of those parking lots saying, "A BAC of .08 is grounds for DUI. How do you plan on getting home?"

I know someone who developed "natural immunity" to polio by catching the disease. He spent two years of his childhood in an iron lung and walks with a severe limp to this day. He damn sure would have rather had the "vaccine".

These vandals and looters coopted a peaceful protest intended to draw attention to the unfairness of a system that enables greedy corporations. Now the conversation is no longer about what those corporations do to little guys like you and me. It's about self-entitled brats who like to break windows and steal.

I'm sure Wells Fargo couldn't be happier.
