Two points. It is becoming more apparent by the hour that the Sheriff (and, perhaps, others) may well be culpable in this tragedy, and he probably knew it early on. So we can\\\'t rule out the possibility that he was purposely detracting from that in his reactions and remarks. Second, he may not have been explicit in the quote to which you refer, but certainly left-wing pols and media were in the hours and days that followed. I predict that there will at least be civil suits against the Sheriff and others who may have been negligent in dealing with Loughner prior to the shooting. Quite possibly, we will see investigations and criminal indictments as well. This story is far from over.

It\\\'s quiet this morning as I sit by the river sipping my homemade coffee watching the ducks. You are right about Bend becoming big. Last night we had dinner at the Old St. Francis school on Bond (I think). The McMenamin brothers (J-High Portland) turned it into a hotel, eatery. We\\\'re decided to stay an extra day before going back home to Pacifica and begin editing the video. It is really peaceful sitting on this deck outside our room, and smells so fresh. You are throwing great names at me from the past, especially Moose Ass. Damn, and I thought that part of my brain did not retain ANY memories anymore...thanks for staving off my commitment to the \\\"home\\\" for a few years, Joe.

The novice master is a guy named Tom Lamana, seems like a nice guy over the phone. He got my humor so he\\\'s OK in my book. All those names out of the past was I sober enough then to remember? Went to St. Joe\\\'s in Yakima no one was home, cool church though. The DVD is a educational one for new teachers in Jesuit schools around the country. It will fill them in Ignatian Spirituality so they can jump right in to their new jobs. It will come with a workbook to help schools with new teacher orientation. My first DVD called \\\"The Ignatian Project\\\" was made while I was on sabbatical in 04-05. It was a 2 hour epic in 3 parts \\\"Life of Ignatius\\\" \\\"Spirituality\\\" and \\\"A Faith that does Justice.\\\" and 7 brief (short) videos on Ignatian Vocabulary. It was a great sabbatical project, it sure beat going back to school to become a better teacher.
