/Film : Nicole Kidman Out, Lucy Punch In - Woody Allen's Got a New Hooker

I was really looking forward to seeing Nicole Kidman in a Woody Allen picture. Especially if it turned out to be a comedy! I feel Kidman rarely pulls her comedy strings and a Woody Allen film could be the best way for an actress to express such talent. I am, however, intrigued by his new choice...

/Film : Danny McBride Wants To Enter the DC Comics Universe

Technically, The Riddler isn't a C- or D-list super-villain. The fact that most people know who he is immediately disavows that. Characters like Captain Cold or The Trickster, those are C-list. Pretty much most of The Flash's villains, unfortunately.

Film School Rejects : Why Does \'77\' Look Like It Will Be Better Than \'Fanboys\'?

I've actually been hoping to see this movie for the last 2 years, back when it was called 5-25-77. It always looked better to me than FANBOYS and I cant wait to check it out! I'm just glad that they're finally releasing it. I've been watching that exact same trailer since '07!

/Film : Robert Zemeckis Has A New Idea For Roger Rabbit 2

I don't feel that a sequel involving CG-animated characters versus 2D cartoons would work. Mainly b/c one of the things that was GREAT about WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT was that it took place in the '40s - a time when cartoons were important to the film industry. Back when "Merrie Melodies" used to play in the theatre before the feature started. If this were being made by the same Robert Zemeckis from 20 years ago, I'd be all for it. But "'80s Zemeckis" is very different from "present day Zemeckis"...

/Film : Joss Whedon's Theory On Why DC Comic Book Movies Usually Suck

I think if we go by a numbers game, Marvel has more bad films than DC does. DC: Superman III & IV, Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Supergirl, Catwoman. Marvel: The Punisher (1989 & 2004), Nick Fury, Howard the Duck, Daredevil, Hulk, X-Men: The Last Stand, Fantastic Four, FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider...I'm sure I'm missing some more. I've always enjoyed DC Comics characters more than Marvel's, though I am a fan of both. The DC Universe - to me, at least - though their characters are more "god-like", have always been what I want out of a comic book story: heroic. DC characters have always been what mankind should strive to be. Their characters are still flawed and, even (or, especially) with a character like Superman, human. Though he is an alien from a distant planet, his biggest character weakness has never been Kryptonite, but his belief in humanity. I could not disagree with Joss Whedon any more than I do on this subject.

That has to be the worst title I've ever heard for a Superman film! It makes Superman sound more like...The Hulk. There is no need to "unleash" Superman!
/Film : Seth Rogen's Green Hornet May Not Happen After All

I had an issue w/ this project from the moment I heard that Seth Rogen was writing/starring in it. I don't dislike Seth Rogen or his work. As a matter of fact, I'm quite a fan of his. However, I didn't feel he was the right person for the project for either creative role. But, when I heard that Stephen Chow would be directing it, I genuinely grew excited. Then, he signs off the project over "creative differences", which is never a good sign for any film. So, if this project doesn't happen, I surely will not lose any sleep over it. If anything, I'll be able to get a little more.

Film School Rejects : Van Damme's Next Project to be Love Story

I LOVED JCVD! Which surprised me because I am not a fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme, at all. If anything, I'm a detractor. Which is also why I am in no way excited to see this flick. It sounds like the kind of fare that made me dislike the man's career in the first place. And I completely agree that he should be getting some of Mickey Rourke's press...

The Oscars are televised as a source of entertainment. It has to draw an audience because...THAT'S THE DAMN POINT OF TELEVISING IT! You are the one that doesn't seem to comprehend why the Academy Awards has had comedians host for so long. It is a yearly TELEVISION special. That is why there is a host. It is to ENTERTAIN. The show itself is separate from the awards. The awards are a serious honor. The show is a party for the entertainers.

Ooh, I'm sorry. The sound of the buzzer means that you are incorrect. Most of the films that the Oscars deal w/ are serious in nature. The reason the Academy Awards have been getting comedians to host is b/c a serious awards banquet is NOT what people want to watch. If the Oscars are not interesting to watch, why watch them? I could just wait until after the show and see who won what awards. Oscars have to be funny to draw an audience. There is no reason to televise if no one plans to watch. Bleak award shows are something that no one needs, nor wants, to see. The reason the Academy Awards have been successfully televised is b/c it is also fun to watch. It isn't the nightly news. It is allowed - and desired - to be entertaining. The Oscars need to be hosted by a personality. Jackman is an actor, not a personality.

He was doing stage acting. That is very different from doing live comedy. In one, you play a character. In the latter, you are trying to make yourself interesting. I believe Jackman is a fine actor, but not a stage presence. And the Tony Awards are different from the Oscars. Case and point: the people on here praising him on his Tony Awards hosting have not watched the Tonys before or since. I'm completely with Peter on this one.
