So was I. That's exactly what her attorney said. And it's only in reply to Futz's argument. You're implying that her attorney brought it up as though her attorney is validating the existence of father's rights. He's not.

I don't know if saying "Nobody is stopping him from talking about father's rights" really counts as "bringing it up." It's saying, he can talk about whatever he wants as long as it doesn't violate his client's private life. You can talk about "father's rights" and have the speech be protected, but you can't violate her privacy and still expect the speech to be protected while pretending it's just about the former part.

Fyi, the Feministe story that explains that Nani is her name is from May 17th. So it's not really "new" information.

Personally, I think using Westboro is a bad idea on the defense's part. All it's doing is confirming that they know his actions are gross. Nothing else about it really applies. Also, I read in the local news article that the defense lawyer said Westboro was about the "church" protesting at the funerals of gay military personnel, so, yeah.

But what do I know? I went to law school but didn't take the bar exam.

Also, I just re-read that article and Fultz's lawyer says the Westboro First Amendment case was about "protesting gay military personnel funerals," which is, well, not correct.

The order of protection said the billboard needs to be taken down by 8:15am on 6/16. According to his Facebook, he changed the name to CANI (replace National Association with Coalition) in late May (probably to avoid the order of protection getting granted). Now,. he's asking for donations to pay his legal fees.

He says on the Facebook that it was his own choice because the name was "distracting" from the "real meaning," but hopefully no one believed that.

Andddd here's the "organization's" facebook page (which is, of course, its only website) http://www.facebook.com/pages/Coalition-About-Nee...

Notice how he changed the name? And then has several posts about it? Yeahhh.
