I thought the skit was funny, and what I was most impressed with is that Alec did not deny his rude, selfish behavior for an instant. It seems he does think they overreacted (I do not think they did - he acted ridiculously childish), but he also clearly realizes that he did cause trouble and he was being foolish. I just can't figure out why celebrities think they're better than everyone else. More famous, yes, but better, no.

I'm sick of all the "wear pink to bring awareness to breast cancer" nonsense. I think by now everyone's aware that there is breast cancer. We don't need more "Awareness" - we need more money to figure out how to find a cure. $4 bracelets that have got to donate at least $3 toward breast cancer research are a great way. My niece wears a couple of these and I think they're stupid (and I thought it was trashy looking), but I like that the proceeds go toward research, so I'm never going to complain if it actually helps.

The Spokesman-Review has a little better explanation of the circumstances. I think it's understandable on both sides. And it was only 2 people who were turned away. The rest chose to leave with them, even though they were permitted. "In general, there’s no dress code for White House tours and the St. Maries Gazette newspaper in the family’s hometown reported today that the family had checked about possible dress codes ahead of time just to make sure. However, congressional officials say the Baker family was given access to the more prestigious West Wing tour, which does have a dress code prohibiting most casual wear, including jeans, shorts and T-shirts."

I'm with you! Sure, spiders give me the willies. But fruit flies drive me nuts, and I can't just put a cup over them and slip a postcard underneath to let them outside. I was about to catch a spider the other day, who suddenly stopped running from me. I couldn't figure out why he didn't care about me, when he leapt out and captured another (smaller) spider. So I figured, shoot, I'll let this one stay I guess.

I just can't imagine the desire to watch a person die, no matter how badly he hurt someone you love. It really sickens me that execution chambers have viewing rooms. I know you all disagree, but I find that horrible. I hope I never have to see anyone die, even an evil person.

There was a guy that wrote an article about some Extreme Truth Telling movement a few years back. It was an amusing article, but the most poignant part for me is when his step-mom asked him if he liked the gift card she bought him for his birthday. Then the grown man replied, "No, actually." She was so taken aback that he explained quite frankly, "Instead of giving me a gift, you've required me to run an errand and buy my own gift. I would have just preferred cash, or even just a card." I thought that summed up exactly how I feel about gift cards. And we did lose out on a $50 one when the store went out of business. Bummer.
