i'd be curious to know how many people commenting have ever had a genuinely crazy ex and a protection order. They don't print the stupid things on Kevlar, and thanks to the information age, anyone with enough of an impact on society cannot genuinely disappear. Get yourself out of the situation? No matter what you do, t's really never enough. Get a weapon? You have to be willing to use it and able to prove you were in enough danger to justify the action. Protection order helps, but they really want you to ask him to hang on or leave while you call the cops. I'm a big believer in personal freedoms, but I'd have to admit that IMO the only way to really do something about this would impact freedom even more than our current system. If they're determined to die, they are able to take you with them. That's all there is to that.
