Britain is not equipped to deal with radical Islam. It has lived in denial of it for far too long.

Britain and the West turned a blind eye to thousands of Nigerian, Iraqi & Syrian Christians and other religious minorities brutally murdered over the years Islamic fundamentalists - it took Foley's brutal murder to wake them up, but we non-Western Christians are spectacularly unimpressed.

Many Britons don't know that British colonialists (especially the mainly Conservative Oxbridge educated "district officers") laid the roots for a massive expansion of Islamism post de-colonization.

Muslims (in Africa & beyond) were seen as "noble savages", so local Muslim rulers were empowered at the expense of non-Muslims (under "indirect rule"). Forced conversions to Islam happened right under the nose of British colonialists (who actively discouraged Christian missionaries).

So Islam not only expanded, political Islam felt empowered after British and French colonial rule - and we see the results today.

No non-Western Christian (the smart ones) is under any illusion that the West has the ability to stop the spread of Sharia or Islamism. We saw how the US (with 150,000 soldiers) failed woefully to do just that in Iraq - so what magic can be done?
