I'm glad you are buzzed and not bothering me ... it's the ones who are buzzed and cursing, vomiting, urinating in the sinks in the rest rooms and acting like fools that bother me and others.

All I know is that I've been attending sports events since the 1960s and I can tell you from personal experience that the crowds are more profane, nasty and rude today than back then. And, anyone else who is in the same boat would agree ... unless they are one of the jerks ruining it for the majority of fans. That's all the citation needed for a column or message board. And, if I were to write a news story, I guarantee you that I could come up with those numbers.

I guess we'll agree to disagree because I do not need beer or bloody marys at a football game to have a great time. Now bloody mary and a nice Sunday brunch ... yes. And, beer at a backyard barbeque ... yes.

It's a free country and you can do what you wish. I also agree it would be great if people did not get "sloppy" drunk as you say. Alas, that is not happening. I'm just glad almost everyone has driven home by the time we leave the press box four hours after the game.

You're right about going after the jerks, but I really think those numbers have been growing in recent years. It's sort of like the online world; people drop their inhibitions hiding behind their monikers the same way they act the fool when their brains have been dulled by booze.

I already pointed out that there is too much money involved for alcohol ever to go away from athletic events. And I truly believe that if you are among good friends at an event you enjoy, you really don't need alcohol to make it better. Good food YES!

The Albany paper reported that Siena is hoping to keep the two other recruits in the fold, which is one reason they hired McCaffery's top assistant as their new head coach.

The few times I saw Iowa in person -- and on TV -- I thought Fuller was their best player. Scorer, rebounder and someone not afraid to mix it up in the Big Ten. But I hear he may be headed for Arizona State, much closer to home.

I've heard that too. Have to be careful; you want to separate yourself from the previous regime -- talk about your game plan to turn program around -- but you can't step too hard on Lickliter because he was the one who originally recruited these players.

And, are you ready for this --- they also are talking about expanding the Women's Basketball Tournament. Either way, it would be a mistake to expand those fields. Here's an idea --- add 3 more teams so there are 68 and have four play-in games the Tuesday before the tournament starts.

GazetteOnline.com : Masterful stroke for Tiger

And, don't buy any of the products he's pitching. I don't really have a problem with any athlete and his/her off-the-field issues. I don't believe athletes should be role models. However, when that athlete has made millions selling themselves with an image that's as phony as a $3 bill, that I take issue with.

I remember that Russian with the incredulous look on his face, too. That game, by the way, was on taped delay and was NOT shown live. For me, it didn't matter because I was working that night. While the taped viewing seems hard to believe, look at the current Winter Games; most of what we're watching at night was actually held during the day.
