Blog Cabin : The 2012 Location

Did you know they have a game on the History channel site, "Place the State."? After playing a few times, I have a better knowledge of geography and shapes of the states. http://www.history.com/interactives/place-the-sta... Kind of fun... and if I win the blog cabin, can now orient myself with regard to other states below Maine. (Had to bring blog cabin in somehow!)

There was a wonderful series on the History Channel, called, "How the States Got Their Shapes." One of the things I learned was that Maine probably has the best water in the country, which says to me that it probably has some of the best air in the country. This choice sounds appealing before the first interior wall is brought down! It will be interesting to see some of the building choices they make to prepare for those Maine winters!

Blog Cabin : Meet the Winner

DIY and HGTV could have marketed their networks a lot of different and creative ways. One of the ways DIY chose was to give me and a lot of other people a chance to win a beautiful home, or if we couldn't afford to (or choose to) keep the home, get enough cash to make some dreams come true. We have a very lucky winner, and I wish her all the best. Now, thanks to a lot of good people at DIY, I am looking forward to my chance to win an incredible home in Maine. I just can't see a down side to this! Can you? Really???

HGTV Urban Oasis : Keep Your Fingers Crossed

Hi, Janzee. I had a (very) small home business after retiring, so I can sympathize, but how exciting to start something new! Unlike me, you sound very "right brained" and creative, and I hope that once you get over the hurdle of getting things set up that you are doing something you will enjoy.

I am enjoying all the conjectures. Wonder if HGTV didn't have the mail-ins in the photos because they are more interesting and colorful photos. My fingers and toes are still crossed... The rules still say that the "potential Grand Prize Winner will be contacted either by phone, email, in writing, or in person by HGTV at the Grand Prize Winner's home on or about October 26, 2011 (subject to change)." If they hold to that schedule, it is next Wednesday that we should be ready for the TV cameras!

I must be one of the few people who really like a saturated green. Love the colors used in this space. A confession: I was going to use the phrase, "color palette," and had to look up the word, 'palette." There seemed to be a bit of disagreement. Spell Check insisted it is palette.

It was interesting to look at the links on page 2 that Cami provided -- love the sleuthing that is done by the bloggers at this site. According to one of the links, this house has been in the hands of the same family since it was built in 1884! One side benefit of following HGTV and DIY sweepstakes is improving knowledge of different parts of the country - the business district of Manhattan, Chicago, the Denver area, Chesapeake Bay... I am looking forward to learning more about this beautiful area in Maine.
