Where is the county’s long range planning at? Why hasn’t funds been put back in prior years for the radio system changeover? The way technology changes county management should have been better prepared; but I guess it’s better to wait until time is getting close and say it’s a federal mandate and we have to raise taxes to pay for it. There are so many county residents that have lost their jobs, savings, homes, etc. and these people have already been hit with the increase in state taxes. So the county wants us to vote to hit everyone with the additional quarter cent sales tax increase and I’m sure if we don’t approve it they will just increase the property tax to get their money. It’s amazing what a politicians can justify in their own minds. It seems that their thinking is; the county residents don’t know what’s best for them, but we do. I guess in the future our/or our children’s paychecks will go directly to the government and they will send us a small percentage of that money to try to live on. Please everyone remember these tax increases and the record of our elected officials and vote accordingly at the next election.
Gary Page says the county would lose $100,000 by reducing the taxes at the airport. Well it's not to hard to imagine who will have to make up the difference - the other residents of the county or maybe make the county workers take several more days off with no pay. It's time that the Rowan Commissioners started to represent the majority of the Rowan County residents and not just the few rich ones that can afford to fly around in airplanes.
