HGTV Design Star : Challenge 9: Meet Your New Design Star, Part 2

This is my first blogging experience. I know people that know Dan and his Dan's family. By all reports they are a great bunch of people to know. I started pulling for Dan from the very first. I was so disappointed he did not win and when I found out about the editing of the pergola fiasco I was furious. When he didn't win, I began blogging like crazy. I had no idea how emotional this experience is. My emotions and blood pressure just kept going up and up. But thank you for setting me straight. That's what I needed to know. I am not sure this is good for people. I am however not going to forgive HGTV for editing that episode they way they did.

That's now what happened. You probably haven't been informed, but the episode was cut to not explain that Dan and Torrie went back to the store and got them to change the pergala to a $5000 pergala. That was just a miscomunication. The $5000 that was given to the team was another overage all together. There is an interview with Dan explaining that. I can dig up the website if you like. Mancave has it.

I am still wondering how you know it is a fallacy. Do you work for the show or something? Just wondering. Especially when you are so positive that it's a lie. Please respond. I don't need your superiority laid on me as you have constantly done to others either. I just want an answer to my question. Thanks

I wasn't the one who started that rumor but I know several people said it. I qualified it in my email that I did know for sure if it was true. But I would really like to know for sure.
I apologize. I thought you were someone else. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I got caught up in the moment I guess. There is someone with nearly the same initials that just keeps saying how everyone just needs to get over it. I just thought he or she should leave us in peace and let us vent. Again I'm sorry.

On a little different note: Does anyone else think that HGTV does not give these guys enough time on their challenges to do anything with much imagination. I think we would get better idea of what these designers can do if they could maybe get all their shopping done before they start work on the project. These designers can't time traffic, getting lost, or myriad of other things out of their control. I'm not wanting weeks or anything but in my opinion they don't seem to have time to even think.

I'll ask you as I have others. How do you know it is a fallacy. I did qualify it in my email that I did not know it was true. If you know it is false by some means, I'll retract it all immediately. But I do believe that HGTV edited that episode to look like it was Dan's fault and it was not. They also took down the blog from last night this afternoon at least. To me Dan was the better designer hands down and it all looks suspect to me. But maybe you know something I don't know. I was also wondering why your picking on my little comments when hundreds of others saying much nastier stuff. But maybe that's because you know something I don't know. Please respond.

I don't know how you can bring 9/11 into this at all. All I know is that Dan was interviewed by a Portland radio station, and it was reported in those two newspapers. He explained why he was so unaffected by the accusations back in the green room. He also explained that the $10000 pergala they originally ordered included some built in furniture and a trellis of some kind. When I replayed the show, you could clearly see that the pergala they first ordered was not the pergala that was in the back yard. I'm not bad, just concerned that we have all been duped. I have heard from several people who know Dan, that he had always been a good stand-up guy. Why would he abandon all that now. Your just as bad, thowing out accusations that we're all lying. What's your proof that it didn't happen. Maybe you shouldn't throw stones. Why do you think HGTV took all the posting down from last night? Please explain.

Dan was intervews about the episode and it's even worse than what they showed. The confusion over the first $5,000 was solved way before the end. It was a much smaller version of the first one that was ordered. No, it was another $5,000 overage that had nothing to to with Dan. It is in the Idaho Tribune, and the Argus Observer but I can't find the web link right now.

Maybe we should also stop watching Divine Design, whatever Genevieve's show is, and Deserving Design. I just don't know if HGTV is controlling them also. This is so sad to see a network that I really like be as sneaky to even take the blog down from last night.

I think you need to understand how underhanded HGTV is being to get the outrage people feel. Now they have taken the blog down from last night to quiet the opposition to this choice. Not to mention that they edited the episode with the $5000 to look like it was Dan's fault. The entire story is laying on the cutting room floor and it really is disgraceful. I also heard and I don't know if it's true, but Antonio worked on Divine Design with Candance. Another unethical debacle, I believe. So I say let the people speak, until the execs get this!

I just keep getting madder and madder at HGTV. Now that they have taken the original blog down, it looks like they are hand picking comments, so it looks like their viewers are more split with the selection when clearly they aren't. I can't emphasize enough that they edited the segment with the $5000 short fall to look like it as Dan's problem. They left what really happened on the cutting room floor and they need to be called out on that. So keep blogging, so they clearly understand how underhanded they have been. Thanks

HGTV Design Star : David's Vlog: Welcome to HGTV

You need to know that HGTV edited that episode to look like the discrepancy was the gazebo. That problem was solved earlier and downsized to a $5000. The $5000 was something else altogether. Dan had agreed in the contract that HGTV had all rights to edit as they wished. He was astonished when the controversy played out as it did. HGTV are the ones that are the dishonest ones on that episode not Dan. So I hope you will rethink your position now that you have all the information.
