Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/15/09: GLENN SAID IT, ECONOMISTS SAID IT, OBAMA FINALLY AGREES - DEBT IS BAD

Gee Chuck. If that's how you feel about everyone who isn't a 'dyed in the wool' Obama supporter, why on earth would you continue to participate on this message board? You remind me of the days of my first job as a cashier. There were some people who would walk in (they were easy to spot) and you could tell right away that they only came into the store as an excuse to dump on somebody - anybody. You knew before you even got started that there was nothing you were going to be able do to make them happy. They were miserable and their only goal was to share the pain. I always felt sorry for them, and I feel sorry for you as well. You must first be happy within yourself to truly experience joy and serenity. It appears you still have a ways to go. Good luck.

Actually the first half of TARP 1 was Bush. Obama distributed the second half of TARP1 all of TARP2 as well as the stimulus package and his ridiculously bloated budget.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/9/09: Jobless Rate Hits 25 Year High ...

Jobs or no jobs, the taxpayer is about to get clobbered again. The government is gearing up for the PPIP (Public Private Investment Partnership) auction that is going to enable the banks to sell off their toxic assets to each other at an out of (bank) pocket cost of about 5-7% of their original value. This is their big chance to get out from under these toxic assets and still come out smelling like a rose. So who's on the hook for the difference? You guessed it - it's us, the taxpayers!! We (via the Feds) get to pick up 93-95% of the cost of the banks' bad judgment (and outright corruption!) through matching funds and 'non-recoverable' loans. This is going to cost the taxpayer TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS and makes TARP look like a drop in the ocean. But since it is getting no coverage, the public remains in blissful ignorance. Every one of us needs to be calling our congressmen and DEMANDING that this be stopped! Otherwise we will be paying for this for generations.

Econ 101 : Stress Tests: Drama, Delays and Rose Colored Glasses

The government is selling us down the river one more time, and unfortunately we are allowing it. Did you see the stock market on Friday? Bull market LED BY BANKS, no less! Banks that are functionally insolvent, empty hulks that are being propped up by your money and mine. We are in for a rough ride. This week's bond auction failed. The government will have no choice but to let the Fed step in and buy up more debt because CHINA HAS CUT UP OUR CREDIT CARD!!! Buying our own debt in order to meet our obligations is like paying your mortgage with your VISA. This will end badly. This kind of fiscal irresponsibility always ends badly.

Breitbart.com : Bernanke: Economy should grow again later in 2009

Has there ever been a time when MASSIVE spending has revived an economy? The definition of insanity is repeating the same actions and expecting a different outcome. The Keynesian model is totally inadequate. It failed to predict the trouble we are in, and facilitated the CDO and CDS derivative mess that is at the root of our economic retrenchment. The Austrian school predicted why we are here, and what we need to do to recover. Unfortunately it is the exact opposite of the current policies being followed by this administration. Can Obama and crew temporarily reinflate the bubble? Possibly. But unfortunately that would only set us up for a bigger crash later on. Think in terms of the secondary depression created by FDR's policies (only this will be exponentially worse) that delayed our recovery from the Great Depression.

Recovery will not occur until the bubbles (housing and lending) have worked their way out of the system. The actions taken so far have put a band-aid on the problem without addressing the root causes. In addition, the trillions of dollars injected into the system will result in hyperinflation and mortgage the futures of our children and grandchildren. Bernanke is such a 'sage' that he totally missed the impending collapse of the housing and financial markets. But I am supposed to have unlimited faith in his ability to time with absolute precision when liquidity (cash) in the economy must be restricted in order to avoid Zim-flation? Keep in mind that this is the same group of folks that told us that bankruptcy was not an option for automakers, but who are now promoting - BANKRUPTCY FOR AUTOMAKERS! Wow. I feel so much better. My confidence has been restored.

Hey Gman. Your post has a valid point, but using an epithet with racial overtones allows people to write you off without listening to what you have to say. Don't give them the excuse to ignore you. The truth is that the administration is EXTREMELY politically savvy, just look at the campaign. They will definitely set up a scapegoat if it looks like there is not going to be an imminent recovery.

A opposed to Obama and his cronies who are only concerned with the good of the people. You want a good look at O's altruism, then take a look at my blog at http://myecon101.blogspot.com . The roots of our economic problems stretch through multiple administrations happened under the control of both parties in congress. Believe me there is plenty of blame to go around. The focus should be on solutions. Unfortunately, the way the government is trying to 'solve' it is by throwing money at it which is the exact opposite of what needs to happen. Huge deficits will cause more problems than they solve while mortgaging the futures of our children and grandchildren.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 5/4/09: GOP Begins Re-Branding, But Will It Work?

The Republican party needs to get back to basics. All the window dressing and image polishing is useless without core values. I have a simple list: "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." -- Cicero - 55 BC -- Obviously we haven't learned much during the last couple of millennia. Too bad.

Not sure that its a FEMA plot, but it sure seems like someone's been playing 'junior geneticist' alright. The source could be domestic, but it could be terror related as well. The fact that the original source was in Mexico makes me lean toward the latter. If it was US sourced, I can't see them wiping out all those 'future voters' from south of the border first.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/17/09: Did The Tea Parties Cheapen History?

Liberals are used to having fiscal conservatives be the 'silent majority' not a 'vociferous tidal wave' and it both unnerves and frightens them. This is something they have never had to deal with before, and they are totally confused over how to go about it. They seem unable to understand that this is not just about right vs. left, it is about demanding accountability for what is being done with our money. There was a significant segment of Obama voters who voted for him because they were soured on the fiscal profligacy of Republicans (when they were the majority in the congress) and Obama promised a return to fiscal responsibility. Since his election, the President's actions, however, have been the exact opposite of fiscal responsibility. People are both disillusioned and fed up with the fact that our government has been so irresponsible with our money. We want fiscal REFORM and responsibility, not just platitudes about 'change'.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/16/09: A Hint Of Stability And Wall Street Roars Late In The Day

The Market has low volumes that allow big investors to move the market with targeted purchases in the last hour of trading. This creates conditions that allow the big boys to play margins, shorts/longs, etc. that make them money on market movement (either direction). Because the government now has a vested interest in financials, they also have a vested interest in driving the market up through selected leaking of information as well as the manipulation of reports (mark to market changes, stress tests, etc.). Eventually, however, real economic pressures will prevail. We are in a period, however, when the government is helping their cronies on Wall Street grasp their last few millions (billions?) at our expense. This market is no place for the small investor.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/16/09: Texas Gov Says The Lone Star State Can "Go It Alone"

Traveler and others on this board seem almost to be purposely obtuse in their failure to understand what the Tea Parties are all about. It's not just about taxes, it's about SPENDING! If we had 'pay as you go' for the proposed Obama programs we would have an effective tax rate of at least 89% for EVERY AMERICAN. And what the vast majority of the Obama supporters (read as 'uneducated electorate that thought they were voting for Homecoming King rather than a president, but who now have a vested interest in not admitting they were wrong') and the mainstream media seem incapable of understanding is that there is not enough money (even if you tax the uber-rich at 100%) to PAY FOR ALL OF THIS! And, not surprisingly, if you start taxing the rich at extortionate rates, THEY WILL MOVE THEIR TAXABLE FINANCIAL ACTIVITIES OUT OF THE COUNTRY. You can look at the exodus from New York following their latest tax hike as a microcosm of what would happen. Somehow the left thinks it can use the 'rich' as an endless government piggybank and they will just sit there and take it without changing their behavior and without taking action to mitigate the effects of new onerous taxation. But here is a basic truth that they ignore: THE MORE YOU TAX ANY ACTIVITY THE LESS YOU GET OF IT. They seem able to understand that when it comes to things like taxing smoking, but are unable to extrapolate it to the economy at large.

PT boats will be ineffective as long as we continue to use our current rules of engagement. Since the pirate vessels are unmarked they must be treated as civilian vessels until there is proof to the contrary. That means that until they bring out the grappling hooks, they are not even identified as pirates. And since they are civilians, unless they fire first on a PT boat crew they cannot be fired upon. All we could do is holler at them through bullhorns. Things are different than the old days of WWII. We have no declaration of war against Somalia and we are hog tied by the protocols of the United Nations. We have created rules that make it impossible for us to win.

We are restrained by our rules of engagement. Since the pirates are 'civilians' we cannot fire on them unless they fire on us first. The fact that they have a gun pointed at the head of a US citizen doesn't count. The Somalis know this and are using it to their advantage. We will never win against them or against any other unconventional fighting force until we stop tying our own hands. As long as we keep worrying about how we look to the rest of the world more than we are concerned with the safety of our citizens and our interests we are doomed to failure. Also note that after seeing our response to the kidnapping of the captain of the Alabama the Somalis have now taken control of a US tug in the Gulf of Aden. We have shown weakness, and they will take advantage of it. Anyone remember Blackhawk Down?

I was wondering if perhaps that might be something we could do as 912er's? What if we printed '912 bucks' or something similar that could be used at businesses who subscribed to the Principles and Values and had signs posted that they would accept the 'bucks' as payment. It would help the businesses by directing more business to them and it would help the consumers to know they would be dealing with someone who is ethical and supports our cause. Essentially it would be a lot like bartering, or as you said - gift certificates. I don't think it would be a problem unless you tried to pay your taxes with them or use them at places that didn't have a sign saying that they accept them. It's kind of like the chamber of commerce coupons and discount cards thing.

I've wondered the same thing. Since some of the Obama advisors have also made comments about overpopulation being a problem for creating future pollution and climate change I've also considered the possibility that they would limit births (a la China) or perhaps charge a fee/tax for each new child born to offset the future co2 they would be adding to the atmosphere.
