Daily Camera.com: : Erie approves urban renewal plans for two development projects - Boulder Daily Camera

And it's ironic that the real blight will be the ugly strip mall Erie builds to replace the beautiful lake which they drained. You know Erie's priorities are skewed when they see nature (a pretty lake that attracts birds and wildlife, and offers a calming view for stressed out drivers) as blight.

A few weeks ago, there was an article that popped up briefly on the Daily Camera website about the history of (the former) Prince Lake. The article seems to have been scrubbed from the website, though. As I recall, the lake was built about 100 years ago and named after one of the town of Lafayette's early farmers (Hiram Prince). Pathetic that Erie has destroyed a longstanding landmark of the area and that future generations will never know what's it like to live in an area that values history, open views and wildlife over tacky big box stores and gridlock. Rather than declaring this corner as blighted, Erie should not have drained Prince Lake and instead designated it as an historic landmark. It's really a shame that Erie was able to steal this corner from Lafayette, when it had so much more to do with Lafayette's history than Erie's.

I'm suggesting that the Boulder County GOP might attract more new members if they'd concentrate on good government and tone down the rabid Christian nuttiness. It alienates people.

"It's a challenge, and you have to know where you stand — and be ready. It's like with Christ. We must be prepared to make a defense for our beliefs, and you can't be a wishy-washy Republican in Boulder County." One of the reasons the Boulder County GOP can't attract new members is because of Jesus-freak comments like this.

Wow. I'm amazed. I thought there was no development plan Erie didn't like--no matter how ugly, crowded or inappropriate. Good for them for seeing through the developer's con job to double the number of houses originally approved for this piece of land.

No, I can honestly say, even driving past at night, I have never seen a bonfire (or kids) on the Harber property. But maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough--like you. Maybe you're the one who called out the Erie swat team to investigate? Rather than minding someone else's business when I'm driving down 119th St., I'm busy watching the speed limit so I don't get nabbed by an Erie cop trying to get some revenue to pay down the town's debt.
Strange, I've driven past that property at least once or twice a day, every day, for over a decade, and have NEVER seen any fires or children running in mud (or whatever). I've never even seen any children on the property (at least from the road). In fact, the structures were/are so far off the road, you'd have to be trespassing to get close enough to see any of that.

These types of shenanigans remind me of Erie's past mayor, Joe Wilson, and the shady things he did--like intimidating a resident he wanted out so he could profit off the land. I believe Erie's current town administrator was hired by Joe Wilson. A.J. Kreiger is a bad apple and needs to go before he causes more embarrassment and expense to the town.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder jury awards Aaron Harber $360K in suit against Erie, judge severs property from town - Bould

Not a fan of Golden Run because of it being the wrong location for such density, but I'm glad Mr. Harber was able to de-annex from Erie. Erie has been such a bad neighbor on the Boulder County side, at least there's one less parcel of land for them to put their ugly touch on. I say annex the parcel of land to Lafayette--pay back for Erie cramming a strip mall in what is, basically, Lafayette. At least Lafayette has some design standards. Or let Boulder County put a dump on it. Erie likes dumps, right?

I'm surprised that Sarah Wise wants her legacy to be just a bunch more crammed in, look-alike sprawl like Erie already has ad nauseum. Aim higher, Ms. Wise! If you really cared about your family's contribution to the area, you'd develop this particular piece of property into something unique and special. It shouldn't always be about the money.

Anybody who's been paying attention in life, knows that dispatch operators are trained to keep you on the line and ask a lot of clarifying questions--partly to make sure the caller isn't still in danger. That said, I do think it would have been helpful for the 911 operator to inform the woman sooner that help was on the way. She should have said at the beginning: "I've notified the police and they are on their way. In the meantime, I need to keep you on the phone and ask you more questions to make sure you're safe". That might have helped the caller get a grip.
