@realitycheck. I don't think there is anything wrong with a man stating what he wants either. I do believe a famous man needs to bring more to the table than money, fame and drama. Some people are so broken and expect for someone else to come along and pick up the pieces. I do like that he says that he is not fully who he is or will be yet, so that means he realizes he has a lot of work to do on himself. I truly believe we have to work on ourselves before going out and trying to find someone that completes us. You should be somewhat complete before stepping into a serious relationship and look moreso for someone to complement what you already have. Also a woman that isn't overwhelmed by her career basically says "hardworking, career-oriented" women need not apply. lol.

I love that this post by LJ knight sparked a great discussion, however what saddens me the most about this post and the comments is that it proved the theory that a lot of "us" don't "READ". If you did, you would have known this post was not written by me. I posted two links in this thread that disappeared. 1) was kanye at the MTV Europe Awards. He hopped on stage in the same way he did Taylor Swift when he didn't win for his "Touch The Sky" video. He also told the commentators that he had been drinking. 2)a video of him spazzing out backstage at the MTV Awards a few years ago because he didn't win. Those two incidents, coupled with taylor swift and the "George Bush Does Not Like Black People" moment is a total of Four times that he has did something of this nature. So I don't think they are dragging him for just the taylor swift moment, he's being dragged through the mud because he's done this time and time again and he can't blame it on his mom's passing because his mom was alive during a few of those situations.

@Erika, Here is my comment to the post in case you missed it. ___________________________________ I do agree that if it was an R&B singer, african american singer or whatever it wouldn't have blown up so big but I believe the media's treatment of the incident was a collection of things that Kanye has done. Wasn't this like his 3rd time running on stage while someone was up there accepting their award? I was sure he did this during one of those MTV World Awards (I could be wrong...maybe that was 50 cent??). Not only that but the George Bush doesn't like black people debacle during the nbc telethon. it's a time and place for everything so he isn't completely let off the hook. However I do agree, it's a year later. Move on! We've even stopped talking about Lil Mama interrupting Jay-z and Alicia at this point. _____________

There has been a decline in "black shows" on television because sadly we don't support them. The african american viewer would rather watch the f*ckery that is VH1 than a sitcom or urban drama. Reality shows have killed off the black sitcom.

I just read an article in Redbook that basically talked about this same thing and it said that women who have kids have a hard time advancing in their careers because they can't put in as many hours, travel etc as their male counterparts. The article also said that most women make less than men in the same positions only because we don't negotiate what we deserve to earn at our jobs. Sometimes we take the first offer and run with it. As a woman who owns her own business, it's difficult for me to even balance a relationship and my career, imagine if I threw marriage and kids in the mix...but I'd definitely work it out :)

I remember when I was 20 or 21, a friend of mine called me with her boyfriend beside her and basically informed me that we could no longer be friends anymore because he was making her choose between him and me (which was weird because we lived an hour away from each other). I remember I was CRUSHED and so hurt because I couldn't believe our friendship would just go down the drain over a guy....that i had never met before...but love will make you do crazy things. We became friends again after they broke up but I never had a chance to get over that.
