Can we not set this kind of thing up in our local communities? We can't all travel to the Capitol. This is a call to all St. Louis citizens--9-11 to 9-12, go to your local, Federal buildings, carry signs, and if you can't do that honk your vehicle horns for several minutes on 9-11-09, at 9:11 AM and 9:11 PM! An easy but noisy attention getter.
Why not do this all over the country? Do this at your local Ferderal buildings if you can't go to Washington!
If one registers as an Independent, aren't they kept from voting in the primaries?
Is anyone wondering why none of our leaders are concerned about losing elections in 2010 and 2012? It seems as though they are all very comfortable running over constituents as if they know something we don't. Could it be that by the time Ohamabomamoma finishes with us, and before elections, our right to vote will be revoked, dismissed, or overruled? How about a new, non-transparent way of counting votes? He and his have no respect for the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or the people for which those documents were written, so is that really far fetched?
Us old fogeys are pissed off! We've lost our chance at the "golden years," and if the messiah has his way, we'll all be dead before our time due to his thinking that seniors should not receive the same level of medical care as the young! We will support your efforts and others like yours.
Please give us another chance--give us time to find out about these things--and make it simple. Technology evolves faster than light speed, but we can't always keep up. Perhaps for those without computers, a land-mail address can be supplied or directions on how to find pertinent information?
Today, it seems, that because young people neverlived through a need to flex civil rights, muscles, they don't see the need now. They're ignorant of the number of personal liberties lost in the wind. They haven't lived long enough to recognize that world history is repeating itself and not in a good way. They don't even know that history. We're peddling backward, and our youth see that as building a Utopia. They don't want to hear from the fogeys because they assume we don't what which end is up! They won't even realize that if nothing is done to stop this avalanche of a fascist movement, all will be eventually lost.
God love ya to the person who asked for folks to click and paste to Representatives, etc.! If you would do that again, I would certainly live up to your expectations.
You know what an apathetic country we live in, but I'm certain there are a number of folks out here who simply missed the opportunity. The largest demographic is senior citizens, and we are not all lazy and apathetic. We come from an era where demonstrating and speaking out to our government was commonplace.
There is one man who has yet to be corrupted--Ralph Nader--it will take someone like him to reclaim the country we've lost.
The way to keep politicians from lying is to fire them as soon as it is realized they campaigned on lies and false promiseses. Forget terms! If workers behave as politicians behave, we would all lose our jobs. Why should we be held to a higher standard than those responsible for our country and our welfare?____Another thing is that we have settled into a myopic vision. Somehow we've decided one must be Republican or Democrat. How about we all use our brains and not our legacy to choose leaders? ____Cap the ungodly amount of money campaigns cost to an amount that most who want to run are able. Instead of creating more federal spending as in a health care reform, why not cap the amount of profit and charges that insurance companies, doctor bills, and hospitals can charge a sick person? Lower the profit allowance of pharmaceutical companies, and lower the costs of drugs. Why is it that we, in the middle, always have to suck up the rising cost of living? Why aren't the profiteers sucking up half of the burden?
