Collide Magazine Blog : How Does Your Church Do Announcements?

I think Stephen makes a good point. How much of your service is a program, a show, an event, rather than a time and space for people to come and relax and heal up? Isn't Church supposed to be a hospital, a place for the weak and dying to come and find relief and healing? Instead of treating your service as just another event, why not treat it like a hospital and in this 1 hour you have make the most of it, to apply the most ointment, bandage the most wounds you can. Sure, have the options available out there for people to find out more information (emails, newsletters, tri-folds, etc), but let them take initiative. If people want to do something, they'll take the initiative to find out. I think you'll find you have more passionate congregants that way, too. Instead of spoon feeding (or shoving) information into their mouths, why not let them order off the menu?

Collide Magazine Blog : A Call To Edit

Man, I agree and disagree. While yes, I do think that it's great to edit and be concise/simple as possible, I don't think it's great to say "have less of something!" Make it smaller! Having things be shorter or more concise doesn't equal better. I think you weren't trying to communicate that less is better, but it can come off that way. Not everything is better when it's smaller. I'd hate to use a barbie sized microwave... (ironically enough, I had to edit my post after posting it to make it more concise... hahah) Sometimes things can be quite beautiful when there's more than absolutely necessary. Sometimes we may not need to trim the bleed off the edges. Let's just be careful in the pursuit of making it simpler/more concise, that we don't lose the meat of the story.

GaryMo.com : Celebrity Pastor

Hah! (to the final statement =p) No, it's well said Gary. I feel myself pulling away from being "present" online and broadcasting all that I'm doing. I really feel that God is way bigger than any social media platform and that we can accomplish his purposes without the use of social media. I may have to be the first to do so, but we'll see what happens. I'd love to issue a challenge to any reader to give up social media for a time and see how well you survive (you will, ha).

worshipVJ.com • 视觉敬拜 : Tension

Yeah dude, one of my tensions is homeless too. I know we'll talk about it soon but I've been convicted lately because I would usually just give them food, but that's not what they need. I rarely (if ever) stop to have a conversation with them. I think that's what God is pulling me towards. They're people too.

ChurchMediaDesign.tv : Hillsong Plants a new church in New York City

Man, that's awesome. It's ... Convicting. At least for me personally. I've always had a hard time with evangelism, which show a selfishness inside. Is tech really that important? How much of my time is spent with people? Am I in circles that allow me to interact with those outside of Christ?
