Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : Vent through May 13th

i bought a ford focus... on tax day... haha... everyone at the ford dealership was going to the one here in st.louis. i wanted to put my money where my mouth was because i can... but that wouldn't stop me from getting a different car if a good deal came along... just so happens, ford gave me an incredible deal on their nicest model on the lot and actually lowered my payment.

i haven't been able to get on because of shift changes... but i'm still in it. i don't feel like i need to be on here all the time personally because i think if you've found this site then you've at least got a level head on your shoulders. i can access yahoo answers from work, so that's where i'm putting in my time in the political forums smacking people in the face with all 9 inches of my sweet meat train of common sense. sometimes i just go on and goof if i need a break and have some fun teasing people and being silly... it's more efficient to persuade people to think about what you're saying if you don't take yourself so seriously... people sense that, but it also helps cajole them into accidentally thinking about the information... plant those seeds of common sense. that's why i haven't been in here.

actually, thanks... you did do well. i'm opposed to socialism, but i do like to see a good trading of ideas in a good discussion. i enjoy solid respectful exchanges like that to any of the crazy progressive attacks i see daily everywhere else.

I've already started with the recent local elections. I did checks on the people running and picked the people best suited... but to expand on the end of your post, I think people who decide to run from this point on can tell us what they stand for by simply wearing a 9/12 button... or posting a reference to 9/12 on their platform web page. if someone ran locally here during the next cycle and had a reference to 9/12, I would understand what that person represented quickly. It wouldn't win my vote, but it would make me pay attention to that person... and if they walk the walk, then they'd get my vote. Remember, it took the progressives 8 years to pull something together... as the majority, we can do it in four, but we need to do it right instead of just pulling a mccain (no offense mccain supporters) and throwing a palin to the slaughter. palin is awesome, but she didn't get any prep time and got eaten up. if we're gonna do this, it has to be from the ground up. washington wasn't chosen as the leader until after the framework was built.

you're right it is extreme. but this is suppose to be a new era of transparency. i thought it was all crap, sore losers trying to find anything to complain about before and i felt bad too, but i wasn't going to just point fingers everywhere... but when lawyers stepped in to deny access, that changed things a bit. the only reason you bring in legal protection is if there is something you need hidden. maybe he is a legal citizen, but there is something else in the records associated with it, who knows. maybe it's nothing like i use to think... but if it's nothing, then he's paying an awful lot of money to protect nothing.

We're founded on christian principles, but I don't consider us a Christian nation. I'll be honest, I've never even considered that because growing up I met so many different people from different cultural and religious backgrounds... melting pot to steal your term... and granted, I'm not Christian so I don't see why something like this even matters... but I guess it's important to some people. But, if it's important to some people to be considered a Christian country, then I'd also guess it's important to other people to not be or to take it on themselves to persecute the Christians for X, Y or Z reason. If that's the case, then people who aren't Christians get lumped and blamed for things they have nothing to do with and no part in. It seems like a convoluted mess to me... I would just point to the first Amendment if you're questioning motive or consideration and suggest perhaps they chose not to make a direct connection in order to make everyone feel welcome from that point forward, and worded to be inclusive instead of exclusive.

Well, one thing that's never figured into these equations is the doctors willingness to work in a system like that. I have several friends that are doctors and all of them state they will just get a different degree because they refuse to work for a socialized medical system where they have no incentive to be the best they can. So, you can be happy throwing your numbers around, but if theirs no good doctors left, what kind of medical care are you expecting to receive? Just curious. If doctors start leaving the career field in droves, are you going to them require them to be doctors? Take away their choice at a career for the collective? Also, if you've talked to anyone in Canada or England who are on socialized systems, you'd find a different story. When the government can tell you that you can or can't get treatment for serious diseases... let's say cancer... or a liver transplant... and you go on a waiting list with everyone in the United States instead of just the people in a community, state or particular medical coverage... are you going to toot the same horn with your life in their hands? Or, put it this way, do you want to have the choice of whether you live or die be yours or the governments? It's very easy to say the grass is greener on the other side when you haven't been on the other side. Politicians are supportive of this policy because; like their taxes, they won't be a part of it. Do you honestly think Hillary Clinton is gonna be standing in line with us? Don't get me wrong, I want to help people too, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. Forcing everyone into a choice they don't want is not freedom, it's tyranny. I feel bad for this naive kid's inbox if he's getting copies of his replies sent... damn.

But, it's obvious what your entire purpose is here so, instead of entertaining your misanthropic antipathy, I'll leave you with someone I believe was more eloquent and articulate in their expression of what this board is a representation of in it's varying levels in a single sentence. "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." - Thomas Jefferson We're chasing happiness.

I hope not... if we do, this will be spun to be like the anarchists in England. That will earn us no respect or serious attention... but if we demonstrate with peaceful intent... if we demonstrate charity as the responsible way of taking care of each other... it'll have the same lasting impact that movements like the civil rights of martin luther king jr that demonstrated compassion in place of angst.

- ATTENTION - TAX DAY TEA PARTY ATTENDEES - I'm not sure if this has reached anyone else's ears, but word across message boards is that organizations like ACORN are coordinating a two fold attack on the tea party. There are the protesters of the tea party (expected) that will be there trying to spur violent reactions from tea party members... which we cannot let happen... but also, there are people making ignorant and hateful signs that will pretend to be WITH the tea party. The idea is to make tea party supporters look ignorant, foolish, hateful and violent for news coverage, which we all know they will bite on hard. Please spread the word on what to look out for... but also, any ideas on how to curb this to our favor? I personally think a 'no sign/ teabags only' ralley that puts emphasis on support for the speakers... possibly bring canned goods for the impoverished or people in the tent cities... or some other charitable form of protest would be best because then the people showing up with signs could be identified quickly and escorted away from the group trying to make a positive statement... but I also understand it may be too late to promote this idea.

I don't think he realizes that a lot of people that are on here didn't like what bush was doing either and stand on the same 'bedrock' he does. Had this started during Bush's years, I would've still been a part because I agree that the moral fiber of our society has been frayed... not because one side or the other have rule... I don't think he realizes that while Obama's policies may be helpful to him, the people here are going to be hurt by them... that's why I'm here... the taxes being levied in the new bill are going to put me on the street because I won't be able to pay for the hikes in energy costs now that I'm paying my bills and my mother's bills who's been laid off... not one, but two mortgages on a $37,000 a year salary... but I'm not the type that is going to let my mom suffer because her bank failed her and laid her off... which is why I'm here. I'd imagine it's why many people are here. But, instead of seeing and acknowledging the harm that's going to be put in place, when a person chooses to chastise people who disagree and call them 'sore losers'... they are doing it purely from arrogant malice. Gloating at the expense of others.

tax cuts for two years that make up 1/3rd of the bill vs 2/3rds of the bill being new spending for over 5 years... or in dollars, $900B for over 5 years vs $300B for two years. I think you just validated my points from my previous post about people's inability to see the big picture when their focus is to disrupt and cause problems instead of try to work together to find solutions. Thank you, and again, I hope we use this to find real solutions because this is what happens when you just spew contention, you get blinded from all other variables in play. Or, in simpler terms, people who focus on the magician miss the trick that's being played.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/2/09 - 4/9/09

I'm not going to pretend like I haven't noticed the same things. I'm actually putting together a video about it... however, in the last few days as I've been looking around... there seems to be a lot of 'Obama is bad' rhetoric on here... which I totally get... but I think in many ways we're missing the opportunity to be different than his campaign here. His campaign was built on the 'point fingers at Bush' idea. We shouldn't allow this to become a 'point at Obama' venue... I know there is a 'Vent' tab but it seems to me that we all already know what is wrong and I see a lot of positive contributions on here, people choosing not to be critical, but instead offer up suggestions and stop pointing fingers. I don't know, I guess I'm just tired of the constant barrage of negativity everywhere... I think the whole country is... I'd personally would like to see this place turn into a place where only positive things are put forward. But that's just my opinion. A marine buddy of mine had a saying, "I don't deal with excuses, I deal in results." Pointing at Obama and the Congress seems like an excuse to me these days. We all know things are wrong all over the place and saying it over and over isn't going to find fix anything. I see a lot of people putting forward great ideas here... I may be off base here, but it seems to me that we can only benefit by trying to focus on only putting constructive things and ideas in here.

you gotta ignore people like this... they are just programmed to be insulting. that's their campaign, belittle and denigrate... dishearten people who just want to make their personal lives better... disenfranchise them to believe that there's nothing they can do. the reality henchmen like this don't fully grasp is what works for someone in San Francisco won't work for someone in Cooke City or Kennesaw. if they could see past the rhetoric of their personal parties, they'd see we're really just trying to do the same thing they are, improve our lives... we've just come to the conclusion that government impedes our ability to do that and are acting accordingly. we aren't trying to change, violate or impede on their rights, we just realize things need to be decided locally not nationally... that's why their task is to be insulting... because they don't have the aptitude to see the big picture. flip through his comments, you'll notice he hasn't contributed any ideas, only insults. that's his lot in life. i just feel bad for people like this.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : America's Wish List

I previously shot this to Glenn's email, but I wasn't all there when I put them together so stuff was misspelled and words were missing. A few things I would like to see that I am basing after my time in the Air Force: - While I was active duty, we were paid for duty to country but if we so desired we could earn extra money outside the military. The stipulation was that if our outside pay became higher than the base commander it was considered a conflict of interest and we were forced out of the service. I'm not against the members of congress making extra money running a business or creating a hedge fund or whatever it is they are doing. But, should their intake exceed the pay of the president's yearly salary, they should be obligated to step down. I understand that some are receiving payments to sway their votes one way or the other... that's where the follow up wish comes into play. - While active, we were graded quarterly by those in charge of us and I believe Congressmen are entitled to the same from the people in their states. In this way, when bribes are reported by the media, voters would be able to do more than protest to express their anger. They would have the opportunity quarterly to express observed shortcomings, successes, point out under the table dealings that they were unhappy with and allow the Congressmen to rectify their failings through immediate action instead of rhetoric. It would also be helpful come voting time to take a look at their 'report cards' and suggest whether we promote them into another term, or let them go. In short, it would make them more accountable to us again instead of just around election cycles. It would also play into how they vote daily knowing that every 3 months their choices would make a difference instead of every few years. - I believe they should be entitled to the same health benefits as the military while 'active'. I think if they got to experience the lines and see the overwhelmed staff trying to take care of every member of the military as well as their families instead of house visits with their personal doctors, they might rethink the whole 'Universal' Health Care idea that they won't fall under if they put into effect right now anyway. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the military members who were working, sometimes the work outweighs the manpower, but I also have no illusions how overwhelmed medical staff across our country are going to be if you suddenly throw the doors open to over 300 million people to take care of every tiny thing for 'free'. I also understand this flies directly in the face of having the freedom to choose your own doctor, but in light of the fact that Universal health care hasn't worked for anyone who's tried it I think our politicians need an education in what they are wanting and what they would actually receive and since we don't have a Universal health system in our country, the military's socialist set up would be the closest thing we have here to 'Universal'. - In the military, if we left after serving only one 'term'; or enlistment as in my case, our benefits and salary ceased unless we'd received a disability or injury as a result of our service. I don't think many Congressmen get injured in the line of duty these days... yet, they receive full pay and benefits even if they are voted out after one term? That doesn't provide them with much incentive to keep the people happy does it. And no congressmen can tell me that their job will ever be harder than the guy in a ditch with a rifle praying to see his wife and children again. If they don't deserve benefits for 4 years of service, then no one does. - I believe they should be able to earn a retirement but I also believe in term limits, so here I have to defer from the military model and suggest a 401K or IRA like the rest of the United States. I think this would also make them rethink interference in the market because it could have negative impacts on their pocketbooks, and let's be honest, that's what drives most of their decisions anyway.

I think this is something to keep in mind for right now. If you want to rebuild, you have to do it from the ground up. We're starting with ourselves so it seems to me the next step is our community leaders. I know here I have some local elections coming up, so I'm going to watch these locals, and the next elections are county, state and congressional. In doing that, maybe we'll start to see a leader start to establish themselves. As far as party, I don't think that should matter. Rallying under a party can be beneficial, but since they've both thrown us under the bus, I'm more apt to find quality leadership that may fall outside the two-party system that has been failing us. I voted for Bob Barr in the last election because I believed in the Libertarian values but had Ron Paul ran, I would've voted for him. Ultimately, the focus seems to me like it should be on someone who espouses the core qualities we are focusing on here. I say, we keep our eyes out for someone quality like that, regardless of party line.
