World In Conversation : Voices From The Classroom

This question can be conflicting because males will give you one answer and some women are split between two stances on the issue. Recently I read an online article where guys believed that women who dress in a sexy attire "must want sex". That could be true for some women but the majority do not dress that way because that is they're reason. Some women dress sexy for themselves because they are feeling good about the way they look. They feel comfortable in their own skin. Just because they dress in short skirts and high heels doesn't automatically mean she's a slut. It could mean that she feels good about herself. At the same time there might be those girls who go out there dressed in that manner for the sole purpose of getting attention. Let's be real, if a girl showed up to a party with a regular t-shirt, jeans and flats or sneakers, guaranteed she will not be treated as if she even existed. All the attention goes to the girls in the mini's that barely cover their privates, a nice little top that shows more cleavage than a melting glacier, and some heels that make it easier to look up her skirt. The girl in the jeans will be considered and outcast and people will wonder why she just didn't stay home. So I would say that most women out there dress in that way because they think its what guys want because guys make it clear on a Friday night out that if you wear anything but skimpy sexy clothing you're going to be treated in an inferior way. So in one sense, women dress up that way because men treat it like a game of ping pong. You criticize us for dressing comfortably when we want to go out. The next time we go out, we wear what we believe it "correct" in the eyes of males and get criticized for wearing that. Some women get fed up with their image being treated like a game, so they dress sexy for themselves. Would this question be such an issue if the way guys dressed was the issue? What would happen if we attacked your wardrobe choice and asked why does he dress like that but want to be treated this way? Why is the way a woman dresses on a night out, such a big deal. If you want to dress comfortably to go out and have a good time, great. If you want to dress a little more sexy, more power to you. They way someone dresses shouldn't dictate how they get treated. Guaranteed if this question applied to guys, it would be a completely different scenario. Leave people alone and worry about your own life.

I agree with the response above from mine. Well fare at first was an excellent and good way to help people in need but it has definitely hit a new low. I too have heard that people who are on welfare stay on because they say that they make more being on welfare than they did when they held a regular job. One example that I witnessed myself was in Allentown, PA. This topic is one that my cousin and I discuss all the time being that she is a constant witness of this. One day, while i was visiting her, she took me down to the well fare building and what I saw was shocking. The parking lot at the well fare building was full of nice cars that even my parents wouldn't be able to afford, women had expensive purses that normally would take months of saving up to purchase, and they're children were dressed in fancy clothes and nice shoes. Now normally when one thinks about well fare, they imagine someone who drives a beat up car or doesn't drive one at all, lives in a little less than fair conditions, and can't afford fancy clothes or shoes. What I witnessed was completely different. These well fare recipients had housing provided to them, they could purchase expensive cars, they wore fancy clothes and expensive shoes, and had nice accessories. By looking at them you wouldn't have guessed that they needed help from the government. So to answer the question, I believe that the reason that those who are on welfare choose to not get another means of income is because they feel that why should they if they are getting everything handed to them on a silver platter. All you have to do is keep themselves down and by that I mean not even attempt to go out and see if they can make something of themselves or at least get something that will help out even if its just a little. As well as the response above me, this angered me because my parents worked hard in school and at their jobs in order to live the way we do. I held two jobs during the summer, coming home exhausted just to get up the next day and do it all over again. Yet somehow these people on well fare managed to make more than i did with both of my jobs combined. All they have to do is be lazy, claim a couple more kids here and there, and apply for unemployment. And they feel they can keep on doing this because most of the time, the government doesn't even check up on them to make sure that they honestly need the help. So as long as they can keep getting away with it, why try to earn a decent living?

I personally am not a religious person and never was. Although I wasn't in the slightest bit religious I still believed that there was something up there. Recently, because of events in my life, I stopped believing in God all together. I don't believe that "he" plays any role in my life or in life in general. Its just my personal view. That doesn't mean I'm going to go out there and claim others are crazy for believing in something that hasn't been proven to have existed. So hearing about the double helix in God really had no effect on me. Its not something I believe in and I don't think I will anytime soon. Hearing about these people who claim God, I thought "great for them but I don't care." Things don't happen because God chose it to be so. Crap happens because of the decisions you yourself make.
