The problem here is obvious and the solution is clear. Yes indeed the perpetrator should have gone to jail, just as he did - but the award may well result in higher premiums - and AMR will continue to dredge the scum bucket for employees, only because there are no choices when it comes to EMS service. You call 911 and they send you whomever they are told to. You can do something about this and if you don't, then it's on you when it happens to you. Get involved in your community to develop a choice system for service and guess what - the service will get better and the prices will go down, just like with any other competitive service.
