To Nami, very well said. It seems that most white people are unaware of what racism is. That's long been the case and is no different now.
In Hollywood, the only available roles for Asian-Americans are side characters, and most, if not all, of the time, they're stereotypes there to be the butt of jokes. To be laughed at. That's the case in The Hangover, to name the most recent example. Hollywood's always going out of its way to not cast Asians in lead roles in American movies. They always have bad guy gangster, dork, gay guy, foreign soldier, laundromat worker for Asian-Americans. That's about it. I can't help but wish that Last Airbender flops.

Instead you're blaming the protesters of continued racist casting by Hollywood studios who won't admit that they pretty much only care for white moviegoers, and their racial arrogance leads them to think that somehow a white face is a universal one, but a "colored" one is only niche. Whites are the minority worldwide.
Paramount's top brass are full of crap, and their casting director is sadly ignorant. Just see any number of the racist/ignorant statements that come out of her mouth related to the casting.
She and other white film industry people don't want me and other "coloreds" trying to intrude upon their white fantasy world, but just letting you and other racial apologists know, "coloreds" aren't going anywhere and will continue to protest the racist practices of American studios.

To Davebaxter, you might be "sick of race being an issue in film," well, I'm sick of race being an issue in real life. If you're so sick of race being an issue in film, then protest to Paramount about how they put out casting calls for whites for the lead roles. They're the ones who introduced race and racism by openly casting whites for the leads.

And your counterargument against Kurosawa's Kumonosu-jo is flawed. Kurosawa presented his vision of the Shakespeare play, for Japanese audiences, and besides, what you fail to point out is that whites are heavily portrayed in TV, film, on stage, etc. His presenting a Japanese film, with a Japanese cast, doesn't hurt white people's chances at making it in entertainment.
As long as Hollywood has been around, it's always been skewing toward white actors, blatantly either avoiding casting minorities or only casting minorities in sidekick roles, often offensive and demeaning. Just see how Ken Jeong is portrayed in The Hangover.
You say it shouldn't be an issue in this day and age, well, racism is still here. It never left. Why don't you fight racism then if it bothers you that much?
