So I just saw the Gathering Storm (2002), another movie that validates my theory that leftists dropped all pretensions of civility after the invasion of iraq in a pure ploy for power. Winston Churchill material frequently gets a world war 2 get out of leftist jail card though. This biography of Margaret Thatcher's dementia years is like doing a biography of Churchill on vacation in Europe in his post-stroke years while completely ignoring his famous speeches and milestones to focus on how Diana & Randolph Churchill turned out bad because he was busy doing..something... political that's not at ALL relevant to his story. Its an old canard, its a low blow to any great personality to be accused of having ruined their family life. Btw, Churchill paid all of his son's ballooning debts, i'm sure they'd find a way to hang that around his neck too had he not been one of the greatest war-time leaders.

I agree with Ms. Collins in that a large navy is the best way of force projection and it precludes us having to put bases among people who don't deserve our money or our security. However, the quality control problems with shipbuilding are getting worse and worse throughout the decades. We're not at the Russian level of corruption and graft yet and I'm sure more experienced people can talk about this in detail but the shipbuilding process is seriously compromised because everyone is looking the other way to save their pension or their pay-grade. You don't want to be the admiral who gets fired because you refused to sign the right documents when they landed on your desk. Without inserting campaign politics too much, this is why I support Rick Perry's plan (not perry, his idea) of a part time congress or some kinds of constitutional controls that create high-er turnover in the legislative branch. That's less days and years for lobbyists working for corrupt union and shipbuilders to petition them.

I'll give an example of why the new futurama isn't that great. Pre revival there's a character Old Man Waterfall who's defending Zoidberg's right to eat the flag of Earth. He's supposed to be a parody of the redneck prospector characters from Westerns: " I lost my real hand plantin' the flag when we took back Halley's Comet! Yet it was worth it, so much do I love that flag. [The bench sobs.] I love it even more than I love my seven wives -- that's right, I'm a polygamist. [The court "boos".] Yet I would gladly eat a flag myself, had I not used my intestine as a rope to hoist a flag made of my own skin, if it would protect the freedoms of the proud people who salute that flag. [The court cheers.] Freedom such as polygamy. [The court "boos".] Later: Also, in a rare double-whammy decision, the court finds polygamy constitutional. [The court "boos".] Old Man Waterfall: I can't wait to tell my husband! [The court "boos" louder.] In the commentary, you find out that Waterfall was based on a radio character of Phil Hendrie (who voices Waterfall) everyone hates whilst the audience boos him. Compare that with the second Futurama movie The Beast with a Billion Backs where Fry is annoyed throughout the movie that his girlfriend has 4 other boyfriends. The whole movie Fry is made to look like a loser (more than the usual) victim and simultaneously the jerk boyfriend who doesn't understand why his girlfriend is boning other guys because 21st century morals are so progressive. GET IT?

Futurama is part of the American culture pre-2003 iraq invasion where leftists at least TRIED to hide their irritation with the rest of the country. Post revival the show has been meh in terms of quality, genuine laughter inducing moments or quotable lines. The show now smacks of nerds who have realized they're cool all of a sudden and have changed into complete hipsters where everything's ironic and juxtaposed. Thing is..Matt Groening hated not having total creative control on the simpsons, which is why Sam Simon was pushed out after a few very good early seasons. On the dvd commentary for the Simpsons, there's an episode where Quimby unveils a statue of Jimmy Carter. The people boo immediately and call him "history's greatest monster". You can hear the showrunners and writers laughing on the commentary, except for Groening's whiny little butthurt voice: "I think Jimmy Carter was a good president". Pre-revival, Groening's obsession with demonizing Nixon translated into actual fun humor, like Nixon owning the headless body of Spiro Agnew or being thwarted by secret tape recordings. Post-revival Nixon's character's evil without any of the humor. Bender's Big Score was the only dvd I bought of the new shows. The only thing I remember from the new Futurama is...I got zilch.

I'm highly skeptical. Netflix is going to be paying in upwards of 1 billion dollars this year for various streaming licenses. That's more money in the pockets of left-wing hollywood to finance more left-wing manure. Netflix's strength has always been the dvd mailing business and it needs to stick to that low-cost high profit model instead of wasting almost a billion dollars on shows with a very miniscule audience. For that much money they could make their own tv shows.

I used to watch Colbert until 2010 when I realized that he was just as bad as any of the "liberal outrage" peers I knew in college. Two things did it for me, when he called Palin an effing retard and when he tried to make fun of limbaugh's asian impression by doing his asian character "ching chong ding dong" I understand Colbert's a parody, but if you're satirically taking a shank to limbaugh for being "racist" because he did an asian impression by YOUR standard ANY asian impression is racist. As an Asian who grew up among asian hating cholos I'm used to Asian humor. Neither impression irritated me, it was the implicit double standard.

I'm not gonna tell Louis CK how to do his job, which is comedy. I love when he comes on Opie & Anthony. I've made this point before though, his style of comedy is based on liberal outrage. I've noticed that when he rips on liberals he likes to use the world "people" as in "people think this way and here's why its stupid and funny". Neutral language. Not the case when it comes to talking about Americans. Then its down to nihilism, anti-americanism because he's a genius. He's pretending like he's actually giving out a rational argument while doing jokes about sodomy and pederasty. http://youtu.be/u8lo7nB7b-g Watch one of the outtakes from his latest special where he hides his hatred of Christians by using the topic of evolution, because we all know "those types" hate science so much. He spends almost a minute just outraged, OUTRAGED that Christians with southern accents have an opinion on evolution. Again, the problem isn't with his comedy. The problem is that guys like him act in that irritating, theatrical, outraged manner OFF-STAGE. Patrice ONeal (RIP) was a Louis CK type. Except he never catered to the Republicans are dumb style of comedy, even when that could have made him famous. Mind you, he was an Alex Jones type, but he went after everyone.
