Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Pac-12 schedule (updated)

This schedule doesnt look too bad, honestly it will be a blessing not having to face usc, hopefully we can line up sacramento state or someone like that, San Jose State and UC Davis are already playing other pac 12 schools on 9/3

You see Cal got worked by USC? They looked really bad. Hope the beavs do well today, how does the teams mood seem since losing J-Rod? And is it as cold as expected up there?

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: James Rodgers sighting

Here is the thing, even the most highly rated recievers have a lot of concerns if they are coming off an injury. So Riley will probably advise James that his draft position would be better if he came back for another year. He will wait and see though where he would be ranked among WR's for this year first. He is currently ranked as the #14 WR in the upcoming draft but that will probably move down now that he is injured.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Arizona postgame (updated)

Great game by the beavs, both sides are really starting to come together, really need to work on stopping the big play still though, and stopping the other team on 3rd downs. I am starting to think that some of the supposed weaknesses of the team were due to such a hard schedule.

Couldnt agree more. I wondered where the flag for late hit was, why are you tackling someone who ran 5 yards into the endzone?

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: ASU fallout

I think people are really underestimating the strength of schedule that OSU has played so far. TCU and Boise state are legit top 10 teams and OSU hung with them for 4 quarters. Very tough games for Katz to learn a lot and he still has yet to throw an INT. Pretty impressed with him, glad we have him back next year too, a year of development will be great for his game.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Football uniform (updated)

I think the uniforms look much better on the Nike website. check out this link. http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/usnikefootball/en_US... I think the skinny model wearing the Oregon state uniform is making it look worse than it is

I wouldnt be shocked if they are throw back unis for homecoming week. The osu book store and nike have a new line of throwback shirts and hats and they said it was the theme for homecoming this year.

Not sure if it is just because I don't remember previous years but this seems to be a faster start to fall practice than normal. That is the team is putting in plays earlier and working a lot harder earlier.

Are these more examples of Riley's staff really not caring what the scouting sites have to say about guys? Or is it bad recruiting? (I guess we have to wait a couple years to see)

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Pac-16 bust

I personally think that Texas will be surprised when they realize how little their own network would bring in. You might be able to sell ads during football season but good luck running the network during the rest of the year. Plus all the really big games will be on ESPN, ABC, Fox and CBS. They are saying oh if we just get a dollar from each person that wants to watch it, well listen you arent going to get people to pay more for their cable, it just wont work out that way.

Cliff Kirkpatrick : Cliff: Riley on expansion, USC (update)

That wouldnt be nearly as bad, we would get annual trip to the bay area, and most likely every other year a trip to southern california. Every year you would be playing 4 teams from the other side of the conf. half would be home, half would be away, not so bad.

I agree, i think it is much weaker, i just dont see how else they could divide it up. I don't like the North / South thing, that is just what I imagine they would do. Only other thing i could see is instead of having Utah / Co. in the north they have Cal and Stanford.

What do you see the lineup looking like? I would think they might just do a North / South thing. North Washington Washington State Oregon Oregon State Utah Colorado South USC UCLA Arizona ASU CAL Stanford It would be a bummer to not play in California every year (especially since i live in NorCal) but it would make the most sense. Also that setup seems to make sense in that the schools are similar that are grouped together, you get your Cal schools and Arizona, then the northwest schools plus the new schools.

So in that scenario (pac 10 west) Oregon wouldnt be in the same division, so you would think they would be one of our out of conf. games, that would be interesting, why not keep the rivalry teams in the same conf? a league of Arizona, USC, Stanford, OSU, Washington and Utah. would be really tough for OSU to get out of.

Well Colorado is in. Let's see how long it takes for the rest of the chips to fall. I am all for this, more exposure, harder schedule for OSU but that isn't necessarily bad, and they wont have to play Oklahoma and Texas every year, it would actually be pretty rare, only every 3 - 4 years.
