TechCrunch : Facebook App Is Finally iOS 4-Compatible. Fast App Switching, High Rez Graphics

And they continue to ignore all non-Apple platform entirely. The Blackberry app is an embarrassment and do they even have an Android app? They can't put 1-2 people on these?

TechCrunch : Scary Thought: What Would iPhone 4 Sales Be Like If It Weren't Tied To AT&T?

"But, as they so often do, they’re taking the side of profits over market share." But at the expense of the customer experience too, which Apple does typically take a lot of pride in and surprises me somewhat to see it going on this long at the expense of market share now.

TechCrunch : Plancast Plans To Spread Throughout The Web With An API And Widgets

You can see the new widget in action at: http://www.onehopewine.com/events We added it to our page yesterday to replace the clunky RSS integration we were previously using from Plancast. The new widget is sexy and rocks!

I love it. These posts are the technology community equivalent of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's callouts of peeps in politics and mainstream media - calling out the hypocrisy & lies is always a great time.

TechCrunch : Google, Apple, Jacob, And The Man In Black

Did you want to provide any real insight or value with your comment? The article was about Google vs. Apple, where does Nokia fit into all that? No other companies were discussed here. Plus, whether Apple removed Eric Schmidt from their board or it was pressure from the FCC, what does it matter? I think it's clear from the companies' roadmaps that FCC or not, that was going to happen regardless. But since you brought up Nokia... how long have they been around? How long have Apple and Google been making/powering phones? What do you think will happen to Nokia when apps matter? And developers decide to focus on just a couple platforms? Unless, HTML 5 and web apps become big on mobile, the app ecosystem is going to drive a lot of Nokia smartphone sales down the road. I love the new phones Nokia is presenting, but I can't find myself to pick one up given that I've heard close to zero about its apps or anyone making any. In fact, as a Blackberry user I'm also questioning RIM on this... I wouldn't want to be the 3rd mobile app ecosystem down which is already happening as everyone rushes to develop for Android and iPhone/Pad.

TechCrunch : Firefox to Chrome: We'll See Your 70 Million Users And Raise You 300 Million

No. Firefox definitely seems to get more and more bogged down as you use it. Sure, a new release speeds things up but that only seems to last for a little while. Chrome has a few bugs, more so in the Dev version which I had somehow... but overall, it's a lot faster on a consistant basis.

TechCrunch : Blippy Swipes Back At Swipely With API Announcement

TechCrunch : Blippy Swipes Back At Swipely With API Announcement

I used Blippy for a few months and found zero value in the service. Further, I deleted my account and it was still active and the profile publicly viewable. It wasn't until my second attempt, over a week later, to delete my account that it actually vanished. There's just not enough trust with this company to sit around on it until it provides value.

TechCrunch : Report: Facebook Location Coming In A Few Weeks. But Is It Foursquare Or Twitter?

I think check-ins are more about specific venue matching... so in an ideal world I check in a a restaurant like Four Daughters Kitchen where I live and it shows the check-ins on the Facebook page similar to how check-ins are shown on FourSquare venue pages. The Twitter model (adding location to a status message) is more about knowing the general area an update or tweet came from and allows applications to pull these updates by location (but largely regional). This form of location adding is usually less specific, i.e. South Bay Cities - Manhattan Beach, CA area vs. Starbucks Coffee in Manhattan Beach (the latter being more of the check-in model)

The federated model is something I'd like to see... My worry is that I don't like the Facebook Blackberry app, it's slow and cumbersome BUT would totally use FourSquare to push updates on my location to Facebook. It's so quick and easy to check-in using FourSquare and you could still take part in the badges and mayorships while keeping your FB updated.

Jasbone's Thoughts : iPad - the problems

You make some great points here. However, I don't think the iPad should be reviewed on whether it replaces your laptop or not. Several points here apply to what I'd expect the iPad to do well but a few others aren't a big deal because I'd imagine most people are using this as a complementary device and not a replacement. Apple never pitched this as a laptop replacement but rather a "content consumption" device. I'm looking forward to see how book/magazine publishers and others utilize the iPad to re-engage the audiences that have abandoned print. The base model isn't that much more expensive than a Kindle DX. So we're already seeing a huge step up in value there. This device sounds really really close to where I'd want it to be... but like you said, it's a v1.0 Apple device and these things will get worked out. Unless I find $500 on the side of the road, I'll likely jump in on round 2 as that's probably just 1 short year away. iPad HD & iPhone HD for 2011? Perhaps...

1 Wine Dude : Premiere Napa Valley: One Dude’s Tasting Notes

Great list Joe! Incredibly, out of all of these I don't think I've had any. Closest I get is the Duckhorn 2006 Three Palms Vineyard but it was a merlot, so not really that close at all :) And I totally agree with the "why debate a 94 vs. 96." When I last came back from Napa I thought nearly everything I had was pretty good to great. The true test is after tasting 30+ great wines, what sticks out, what do I remember? I remember loving the new release PlumpJack Cabernet, 2006 Cakebread Dancing Bear Ranch Howell Mountain Cabernet, St Supery Sauvignon Blanc, Chandon Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and a few others which I'll have to detail out in a post of my own somewhere :) Thanks for sharing!
