Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/17/09: Did The Tea Parties Cheapen History?

Watching her question that guy should be played in journalism classes on how NOT to do an interview. She asked him a question (Why are you protesting?), his answer didn't go straight to taxes, so that's where she confronted him. He seemed to be trying to answer her question - articulately - and she would have none of it! Gee, if you're looking for a specific answer, maybe you should learn how to ask really bad leading questions.

Glenn Beck - The 912 Project : 4/17/09: WWJD?

He refuses to appoint someone who may be Pro-Life to to the US post at the Vatican, doesn't get the objections to him speaking at one Catholic school - Notre Dame, and covers up religious symbols at another (Georgetown). Is it ignorance or anti-Catholicism?

For those who think these programs are just extras and unimprtant, try reading The Republic. It's full of out-dated ideas, like the most important parts of education are physical (nurturing the body) and music (nurturing the soul); oh, and that thing about women should have the right to vote and ought to be involved in governing. Yeah, very outdated ideas.

#2 - Okay, maybe this is a little biased being directly connected to it, but the President's views also could lead to major cuts in programs some see as necessary - i.e. the arts and physical education. This has always been one of the glitches with "merit based pay." Classroom teachers have students taking standarized tests (and teachers who teach well "to the test" aren't always good teachers. Just good at getting kids to regurgitate facts and write by the state guided formula). But their is no purely objective way to evaluate the music, art, or drama teachers. Or shop, or home ec for that matter. PE teachers are difficult to evaluate as well (and how much harder does their job get when kids have 10 more weeks that they'll be NOT outside playing, but sitting in classroom or at home in front of TV's getting even fatter). So what will happen when a school's test scores lag? These programs will be cut. Don't agree, well look around, it's already happened in many areas.

In the Presiden'ts online townhall meeting today he expressed, again, his views on education. I just want to point out two major flaws/dangers in his educational plan. #1 - (The "socialist" one) Three months off - okay, it's normally 2 1/2, but let's not quibble - was designed to accomidate agricultural needs. Fine, switch to year-round. Then our high school students will not have the time to look for summer jobs and save up for college. Meaning - the government, through the taxpayerrs, will be the ones paying for that college education, which will further limit choices. Will students be allowed to choose their own course of study, or will that be determined by the government as well? He says that he got his schooling through scholarships and family sacrifice. Yes, more of what we need - sacrifice more of the family time and influence that's been getting ransacked for the past 30 years. Traditionally, our summers have also become our time for family vacations (think year-round schooling won't hurt tourism and amusement parks?), sports and arts camps... which leads to...

Two things gTex - First, you're right. This bill is dangerous. Who is to say that when this is signed they won't start grabbing bonuses via taxes from others who have honestly earned them. They're going to start to just take and take. Secondly, thank you sir for your service and the honor with which you still hold yourself. You have much respect from me, sir.

Chris Dodd has admitted that he inserted the loophole that caused the AIG bonus mess. Forget impeachments, shouldn't Sen. Dodd stand up and say, "This is my fault. I failed to uphold the oath that I took as a United States Senator and representative of the people of Connecticut and I resign."
