Ms Magazine Blog : No Comment: The Sexist T-Shirt J.C. Penney DIDN'T Remove

Well, we're partial to the "This is What a Feminist Looks Like" tees from our publisher, the Feminist Majority Foundation! http://store.feminist.org/thisiswhatafeministlook... But we'd love to hear about other lines. Where did your daughter find her shirts?

Ms Magazine Blog : Maternal Deaths Quadruple in South Africa

No, we missed something--that the original photo, which we picked up from Care2 along with the reprint, was in fact from Tanzania! Thanks for catching that. We're very embarrassed, and very certain that the new photo is actually of a South African mother and child.

Only a few were actually rejected. The first three listed will likely be aired tomorrow (unless anything changes between now and then--I can't possibly see how PETA will get away with airing theirs but we shall see). And the previous ones--the ones that say banned in the title didn't air but the rest did. -Kyle

Ms Magazine Blog : I Remember Christine Daniels on Transgender Day of Remembrance

Thank you for your supportive post, Fran--it meant a lot to me that you understood where I was coming from. I'm also so touched that Christine's difficult journey has served as a cautionary tale for you. I can only imagine her looking down from that hoped-for Other Place saying, "At least I helped one person .." You were right that I didn't out anyone who wasn't already a much-written-about public figure. And I didn't give Michaela's last name (which isn't mine). And to Bella: Michaela is not stealth at all. She came out very openly to family and friends and business associates. But thank you for educating me further on the sensibilities of trans people; I'm on a learning curve and want to be as respectful as possible. I hope and believe that there is a place for a Jewish-lesbian-feminist-cisperson to honor a trans friend on the Day of Remembrance. As for finding trans writers for the blog, we'd love to! We have a few trans writers in the pipeline but we're looking for more--if you know of any who also identify as feminists and want to contribute, please send them our way! -- Michele Kort

We're so sorry you've been experiencing problems with your comments getting through. Though all comments on the Ms. Blog are moderated according to our policy -- http://msmagazine.com/blog/contact-us/ -- not one of the responses to this post thus far has violated them. (Proving atheists are a reasonable and well-spoken lot!) So all of your comments have been approved. We think a problem with a caching program we recently installed may be causing old versions of the page to cache in people's browsers, so that they can't see the updated comments. We've just disabled the program; hopefully that will fix things.
