The Masquerade Crew : Amazon Is Ignoring 16K Book Lovers

That's such a shame. Which is probably why Amazon won't change how they do business. Rather than actually going after the "bad" guys, they take out the good guys (thinking they are solving the problem), since the bad guys usually know how to get around the so-called rules. Probably wouldn't work for you since they probably have your ISP on some black list (wouldn't surprise me anyway), but you could try opening another account of a different name. Perhaps a friend could start the account for you. That way you can still be a reviewer. In other words, separate your writing life from your reading life, at least on Amazon. And, yes, I understand the irony of suggesting a work around after saying the bad guys know how to get around the rules. That was on purpose. What a shame that I even have to suggest it.

I understand why people do it. It's just annoying to me when most of the tweet is ALL CAPS. Thanks for the comment.

That's a good time to use ALL CAPS in my book. You are actually highlighting something. If you try to highlight everything, you end up highlighting nothing ... and probably annoy people along the way. Thanks for your two cents.

The Masquerade Crew : Write the 4th line in this Twitter Flash Fiction story. #MQFlash

Nice sentence, but it will only count if reply to the tweet. Blog post comments don't count. Perhaps that can be another story we write.

I'm a sucker for engaging in such situations. Yeah, it turns bad every now and then. This wasn't really one of those times. But I get some good blog traffic out of the deal, so I don't mind. Find it kind of funny, actually.

Ha! At least I'm not the only one. When someone blocks me after having a conversation with them, I'm usually frustrated or concerned somehow. In this case, however, I couldn't care less.

Hmm, haven't considered it from a fame sort of thing. I suppose the more famous you get, the more this sort of thing could happen. At a certain point it would take more time to respond than otherwise.

We all say things that we probably shouldn't have or wish we could take back, but yes, I agree that the PC movement has gone way past reasonable. No one can say anything about anyone without looking like the bad guy. I think it says more about the complainers than the people "at fault." Thanks for stopping by. See you next month in Cover Wars.

Authors who aren't stick-in-the-muds, like yourself, can see past an "ugly" comment and understand what was being really being said. A comment above said that the word ugly distracted from the message. Well, only if you are easily offended, commonly take things the wrong way, or just want to cause trouble. Thanks for adding in your 3 cents.

We're continuing the blowing up by extending the conversation, so I apologize about that. I just feel the need to state things clearly for those who might be on the fence, believing what others say about us. Thanks for stopping by.
Though I don't want self-publishing to go away, this cover issue should make it easy for people to identify lazy authors. Of course, just because an author is lazy in their cover choice doesn't mean the writing is lazy. Why do we all have to be such stick-in-the-muds? (And I'm including me in that question. I'm not immune by any means.) Did you have a book you'd like to put in Cover Wars?
